I have been swimming for almost a year now. Learned as an adult and I struggle with breathing. In theory,I understand everything you said but when I go in water, everything falls apart. I Swim at least twice a week and I am getting so frustrated because my instructor keeps telling me that she has taught me everything and now it's up to me. Even though lifting head up sinks the body, I do better when I turn enough that I see the ceiling compare to looking on my side. I hope someday I will swim beautifully

I have been swimming for a year now and still learning to breathe right. I too was told to look towards the ceiling and take my breathe and I can swim a length couple of times or so when I go for my practice. I have stopped taking lessons since February and go practice once a week

Great video as usual and spot on. I would add that the timing of the pull on the non breathing side is critical and affects all the issues you mention. As you showed, if you pull before your head has returned to the centre, then your shoulder drops and your body loses shape and also drops. If you get your head back to the centre and then pull, these problems are resolved. I am currently correcting this exact issue and it’s hard, it really changes your timing and breathing pattern, but does feel immediately faster and more stable. Keep up the great work coach Mandy and thank you 🙏

I have been trying to swim freestyle for 9 months quite regularly. I can swim freestyle fairly decent with breathing and all IF I use fins / flippers on my feet. If I take off the fins I fall apart when I attempt to take a breath. So is my kick bad ?? I have pointed toes like a ballerina and am exercising loose ankle drills at my home. With flippers - pretty good - without fins disaster. Do you have any suggestions and thanks !

Hi Coach Mandy... I was born with a club foot which was operated upon. So I have zero mobility in one ankle of mine which is stuck in a 90degree position. It atrophied my calf. So that leaves me with one normal leg and one very weak leg which can't bring to pointy-toe position because I can't move my ankle. This non-symmetry leaves me with a skewed kick which takes me all around the place. have no balance. This leaves my feet sinking, and my lack of balance makes it extremely difficult to breathe in the freestyle position without the stroke falling apart anduke losing my momentum. Can you please help? I'm supposed to swim daily to help relax my scoliosis affected spine. I'd appreciate any kind of advice. Thanks for the great content!
@SWIMVICE
@SWIMVICE 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian! I completely understand your limitation with your ankle. I would highly recommend the buoyancy neoprene wetsuit shorts. They provide the right amount of buoyancy to help you keep your body line stable without pulling you flat like a pull buoy would. The shorts should keep your legs aligned on the surface and you will still be able to rotate from your hips and will help you breathe much easier. Hope this helps and thank you for your support and feedback! 🙏 -Coach Mandy

@SWIMVICE
@SWIMVICE 3 жыл бұрын
Even though I have not seen your swim, you are most likely putting too much pressure in that area. This will cause you to sit lower in the water as shown and explained here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYq8qat-oaiYetE If your head is buoyant and neutral, the air is right there. No need to lift your head or do anything extra to obtain a breath. Hope this makes sense. Enjoy your practice Zoey! 🙌🏊‍♂️✅-Coach Mandy
