Really insightful. At the beginning the ADX seemed very complex to me. But as days passed I have realized it is a must have tool for a trader.

Simple video (worth alot to me..helps me understand) Thank you. As simple as you made your examples look tells me you are an trader/teacher who has plenty of wisdom and a successful trader. I look forward to exploring more of your videos. Thank you sir for your time to teach us skills to be successful in trading. 25 trend strength (use price action to determine up or down trend) and finally 50-75-100 be looking to take profits and/or setting profit stoplosses. Got it.

It’s frustrating when the ADX goes over the 20 or (depending on your risk tolerance) 25 and go back under again after just a few periods. One solution is to use a Moving Average over the top of the ADX. Again risk tolerance comes into play so a choice between 5 or 9 may suffice. Any thoughts on this aspect of this indicator?I usually use another indicator, momentum based, for confirmation. Of course nothing tops price action structure.

Does the flip of the ADX affect the trade? Is your stop loss hit? Personally, I would not layer on more complexity. If a strategy depends on an indicator, how robust is it? What is the theory of your strategy? Why should it "work"? * An average of the ADX - what settings? Is it tested? Did it make a difference overall? * ADX setting of 5/9 - Why not 10? 4? Again, is it tested?

Hi.. Thanks for the efforts. During charts scanning.. (Maybe in higher frame then go to lower one to enter)... But now we should interpret the shop of the 3 lines? Should we care about the slope while scanning on higher time frame? Or just the last candle close value is enough?
@Netpicks13 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. If price is pulling back in an uptrend for example, we could expect the ADX slope to head downwards without violating the uptrend. You could look at the slope as a quick guage of momentum. If you scan >25 and the ADX has a slope down (uptrend example), I'd be more interested in what price is doing. At the beginning, keep it simple. Scan for trending markets and understand what makes a good pullback: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5izZqeYrbOUgq8

@@Netpicks1 "without violating the up tend".. You mean by this violating on the ADX.. Meaning ADX not to go below 25? Or you mean not violating the price chart up trend.. Like breaking support or something.
@Netpicks13 жыл бұрын
@@_nayl7288 Both. We can see a price action trend change such as support breaks. Even though ADX doesn't measure direction, it measures strength of trend and anything below 20-25, means no trend.
