I love Labs too. They are truly wonderful dogs. I’m blessed to have had 2 boys from the same litter (mixed breed) whose mother was a beautiful pure black lab. Then I got my Buddy. A pure yellow lab puppy. Bud became a loving and confident dog, good natured and smart. He learned to run the bike trail with me beside him on my bicycle. My next pup is a black lab I named Colt. He grew up as handsome as the labs in this video. Dog years fly by and we have to sadly part with them way too soon. I lost my Colt a week ago. He was almost 12 years old. Here’s to all our good dogs past and present! My… ❤Buster ❤Colby ❤Buddy ❤Colt ❤Oreo

Thanks to your working with me over 4 years ago, our Standard Poodle is a really great companion. When we got him, he was terrified of everything and everyone. Meeting a new person caused him to roll over on his back and pee everywhere. Your guidance on taking him on puppy adventures and a huge variety of situations brought us to our current happy state. And SO TRUE about the dog having confidence that you make the right choices, and wouldn’t ask him to do anything unsafe.

I have an older scaredy dog-your suggestions are very helpful. She’s been with me 7 months, the first 3 weeks she would not let me touch her, would never take a treat, panicked at the sign of the leash. Happy to report, she now runs with me in my yard, plays with the cat and seems to trust me MUCH more. Still needs work but we are getting there. It’s hard not to placate when she’s fearful as she only weighs 6 lbs. but I just go about my day Thanks for all the videos!

Although my almost 5 year old female Standard Poodle named Ara is very confident now, buying her at 4 months old with no socialization with other humans or other dogs, was quite a challenge. Your approach using exercise and exposure to other, older dogs created the possibility for her to become more confident, and able to safely interact with other dogs and with other people. This video is essential for caretakers trying to manage and ultimately resolve this type of behavioral issue, thanks for sharing.

I don't have doodles, but when my staffy X pups reacted to a blowing bag or other strange item in the environment, I walked straight up to it without saying a word to them. Sometimes it can be a simple matter of a bag being caught in a bush that wasn't there before. Now they're curious and investigate everything they concider strange. I see many ppl with fearful dogs, and it's hell for both dog and owner.

I adopted a 7 yr old mini aussie who had been a puppy mill mommy and the shelter adopted her at an auction. When I was looking for a second dog, there were several former puppy mill finders on petfinder. They all wanted the adopters to have an existed confident dog, preferably about the size of a lab. We have a goofy black lab mix who is quite confident. I think our black lab is one of the reasons they chose us since there were several people who wanted to adopt our new one. It is amazing how much our new dog has changed in the 8 months we have had her, and I think a lot of that is due to the lab.

I’ve had two golden doodles and both have been fabulous dogs because they are fun loving, generally good with people who don’t know dogs (which means my family) and keen to please. I relate to what you are saying - there are plenty of them that are very nervous and it’s not clear to me why, especially in relation to water as both poodles and golden retrievers were bred to be water fowl field dogs and by nature can be very relaxed. I love your mentor dog model and plan to have my now adult dog be the mentor to our next dog which I hope to find in the next year or so (getting older so going from a big breed to a slightly smaller one but field breeds for their smarty natures).
@danielletracyann Жыл бұрын
It’s because some people do not work on confidence on the puppies that have low confidence. Also most ppl who truly know nothing about dogs coddle them during their fear periods instead of showing them that the world is a safe place.
