I adopted a 4 week old starving doberman that looks just like your old dog Bosco! He is proving to be the smartest dog I have ever owned and been around, and it's not even close. 7 months old now and not a single indoor "accident", never so much as a thought to wonder away. His name is Rocky and he is amazing. Have watched your videos since getting him. Great content! 👍

Can you put 'bolt conquering' on the wheel? My 10-month GSD mix walks well, heels fairly well, is good at loose leash walking, UNTIL a squirrel appears. Then she rockets out like a high-velocity missile. Sometimes I can brace myself for the jolt, other times the leash just shoots out of my hand. (Pup is 50 lb. I'm 108 lb.) She has super high prey drive.

This is why I encourage owners to only use their pet’s name to recall them or get their attention into them coming back to you..not for commands like sit, stay, down etc..that way your value and the value of their name will rise tremendously and it will also help to stop your dog in their tracks

My 10 year old Shihtzu responds to her name, a kissy noise, or the snap of my finger. My new Pointer/Pit Shepherd mix puppy responds to name, and a kissy sound that sounds like a dying rabbit. I didn't want any confusion between dogs, so my shihtzu does not respond to the Pointer's call. The snap of my finger is universal.

We keep them separated and she gives him food in his crate and through a dog gate. How do I get him to not jump at her. He does sometimes even in his crate. I am guessing it’s because of her height and kids eye contact, but not sure how to correct it other than telling him no, but if he’s in a crate I can’t walk into him. So how do you begin to train your dog to not bolt towards another dog? When I release her to use it, she does fine. Sniff for a few minutes then relieves herself, but if another dog comes from any direction, she tries to sprint towards them. I try to stand in between her and even touch her butt to get her back on track, but then she faces me and does this skip/hopping motion backwards so she can still stare at the other dog. 🤦🏾♀️ do I just put her in a sit until the other dog passes?

I can't leave my dog alone in the house. After months of no issues, the last two times I went on errands I came back to deep furrows in wood front door, door molding, tension rod curtains down in bedroom with slobber all over window. Window lever was up and, although it is crank style, it had been forced open 11/2 inches. I believe she was going berserk trying to get at some dog out on the street. It is not Separation Anxiety. She is a rescue, dog reactive, every walk we have some lousy moments. Lack of early socialization, I guess. Don't know what behavior to put on the wheel for this...
@rachelm75253 жыл бұрын
You know what I'm wondering? If this just started up, maybe something happened to upset her one time while you were gone. Maybe a loud bang, truck driving by, etc. Or some random wildlife outside? So now she associates your abscence with that. With a rescue you just don't know what's in their history, right? I'm guessing she'll need to be de-sensitized to whatever she's reacting to. Hope Joel can help with that 🙂

Our Mini Schnauzer is a 'gobbler'! There are a couple of things we've done: we split his food into 2 bowls; for dry food we've used a Snuffle Mat. For wet food you can use a Licki Mat. There's also a special bowl you can get with 'bumps' in it, don't know what it's called. You could also offer a snack like a Bonio if you're home lunchtime so they're not completely ravenous at tea-time! Or bring their meals a half hour closer together. Hope that helps! 🙂
