Thanks :) Sydney came with a barking problem, but she also has a lot of sass and personality. It's a package deal.

That is so incredibly annoying lol, and I thought my dog barked a lot. I'm glad you worked it out, she's adorable!

Thank you! It definitely takes practice - Sydney has to practice not barking and I have to practice not losing my cool. It's good for both of us. :)

Well, I started with ignoring her but then that didn't have positive side effects which made it worse i thought. So I started rewarding her for being quiet and she eventually would just sit down quietly and wiggle with excitement. She's been adopted by a elder couple who fell in love with her and were willing to work with her. I'm glad Sydney has improved a lot too! I always love it when people actually try and work with a dog rather than just give up after barely starting!

This is like my dog-continuous barking!He carries a ball now and it stops him but God help us if we lose the ball on the walk!He also barks in the car and in most outdoor situations.Can't figure out how to train him to stop! You were so patient here-well done!

My mini Aussie is also a Barker. Her name is also Sydney. She barks at every dogs in the dog park. She barks a lot during our k9 trainings. I'm going to try your solution.

Time and consistency will helps a lot. If you can set up a 'fun time' situation (like going for a walk) where barking ends the fun time, it sends a clear message to the dog. When we first started working with Sydney, it would take 30 minutes to get to the garage door because we'd have to keep resetting. But it worked! It's becomes so clear what you find acceptable. Some people use shock collars, but I prefer the dog to understand what I want AND to desire the change with me. Good luck!

The epitome of patience, impressive. More people need that think you could share some? ;)

That sounds great! Congratulations on your success. Excited wiggling is definitely preferable to crazy annoying barking.

Hi guido764 - thank you for watching and for your input. My first strategy is always positive reinforcement but in this case, Sydney was not interested. In the midst of her glorious barking, nothing was as good as barking. I tried quickly giving her hotdogs, liver, etc in moments of silence, but she actually rejected them so she could bark some more! We've come a LONG way. I'll post the update video soon.

there are much faster less annoying ways to train to stop barking, especially since that you're off nuisance barking was likely due to nervousness or anxiety. I've found in similar situations, instant positive reinforcement with commands and reward works better than letting them bark forever then rewarding after a barkathon which could take longer because they initially feel rewarded for nuisance barking, thus the long way to train.

haha, thank you! Sydney has come a long way. Some days are really tough and if she is acting like a fool, she just doesn't t get her walk. I'll post the update video soon. A little bit of patience goes a long way!

She gets out a lot! She just came with a lot of baggage we're working through. Aside from her ridiculous behavior, she's a real riot! Thank you for watching!

This is exactly how my dog reacts when I take her out! I don't know what to do because we live in an apartment and I can't just let her bark continuously like this. Every time I take her outside I feel embarrassed (people looking out their windows as if I'm doing something wrong to the dog). She is absolutely great inside, but as soon as I open the door to take her out she immediately starts to bark.
@REMlNGTON11 жыл бұрын
Either that dog doesn't get out much or it is WAY TOO EXCITED to go to the park haha
@MyAussieBlogVideos11 жыл бұрын
That's really tough. I absolutely understand the embarrassment. But the only way your dog will learn is if you can somehow work toward a public situation and help her understand what is acceptable behavior. Does she bark when you open your door or only once you're outside? If it's when you open your door, you can start the training right there, in your apartment. If it's only once you're outside, maybe you can drive her somewhere with less people and practice in a semi-private environment.

Thank you for watching! Sydney has improved a LOT since this video. I will be posting an update soon with a few more tips I learned along the way. What strategies are you using with your foster?

My German Shepard/Doberman mix will bark once I bring her dog dish inside to feed her Or when we don't feed her at the point. Kiya our Rotweiler barks and goes nuts at random and at certain times both of my dogs sing when a train miles away goes by xD

What a chatty bunch! At least their barks are associated with what they believe to be interesting events.

get a Tennis ball and throw it around until the dog cant move.. He has been lacking a lot of excersie this also a behavior of the over excited barking. He is super happy that he gets to do something and cant control it. Just keep him/her going and the barking can go away.
@MyAussieBlogVideos10 жыл бұрын
Hi Chloe - thanks for the suggestion. Sydney has come a long way and can actually now be subdued by intense exercise. However, in the beginning, nothing worked because she was attention seeking/making commands. When she wanted something, she would bark like crazy because it had always been reinforced as the way to get what she wants. So much better now!
@dwandoo10 жыл бұрын
You didn't train your dog to stop barking. You just tired him out for a while. He'll start barking again after his rest. You don't know what you're talking about.
@redesper10 жыл бұрын
I just lay my dog over on her side and say NO!! and hold her there until she stops. All good after that, plus i like my dogs to bark when somone is entering my home so, there is fine line.

_Skyl3r_ barking and whining like this is an indicator that the dog is in the wrong state of mind.....its FAR too excited!....this isn't something u should ignore
@b4by.katttt9 жыл бұрын
Lucy Rose let them be excited! Would u like someone to make u stop being excited if you were a dog or even when u are a human? Let them. It's their nature and they want to go and play.
@lucyrose70899 жыл бұрын
there are different levels of excitement...this is too much.....it leads to other behavioural problems. U obviously don't have a clue about how to train a dog....ud be a dangerous dog owner! basically ur saying "let them do wat they want!" this doesnt make a good dog owner
