Will, your passion is incredible and totally infectious, keep doing what you are doing, you wonderful and so inspiring - I have a wonderful sprocker who is so compliant and willing to work with me, it's incredible and I am using your videos now to help me walk him to heal, and starting at home with the left side becoming the place to be, I have done a few of your drills this evening and he is really getting it and he is totally wacked from all that focus, thank you so much. He also comes to my yoga classes and totally reads the room, he moves towards people who are in pain and he sits in his bed through the whole class and even when he is deeply asleep, he wakes and stretches at the end of the class with all of my students, they so get it - its incredible, thank you, your passion, advice and love for what you do has really inspired me

Thank you 🎉 I am learning this with my 3 month old cocker spaniel girl. Incredibly, she is a girl who learns very quickly. I had a toy dog for 16 years and she is my second dog for just 4 days. I had no idea how smart this dog breed turned out to be and really didn’t know how to increase a friendly relationship until I saw your professional experiences shared. Nice to watch your videos. I appreciate your teaching.🎁🎁🎁😆😆👍👍👍👍👍Merry Chrismas and. Happy New Year 2024🎅🎅🎄🎊🎊🎊🎍🎇🎆🎋🎊🎊🎊🎈🎈🎉🎉🎉🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕

Great advice. My springer is 17 wks and I'm trying to do training without using treats/ food rewards. It's basically the same routine just with much smaller steps and slower progress. But it's working. Subbed.

I have a Golden/ mini poodle/ bichon mix and an English Spring Spanish/ poodle mix. I guess I’m lazy but I let them sniff for 15 minutes then bike them for two miles. When we are finally ready for our “walk” the occasional treat and we are good to go. When they do something difficult like sit at a loud and busy intersection- they get a treat. I guess I should be more strict- but it’s so much easier this way. Once they have had their sniffs and runs, they are so much better behaved Edit: the dogs were not run along the bike until old enough and cleared by their vet.

Golden material. Thank you. We have an outstanding, beautiful ESS. The owners needs some work, though. This guidance is beneficial.

Thanks for the videos they have been amazing for my 19 week Springer. I have been walking him with a harness which has been fine but just ordered your slip lead after watching one of your videos about harnesses aren't good for training to heel.

Question: For us lads in Europe who drive and walk on the other side, is it correct that we should have our dog walk on the other side from us, the right side?

I’ve trained a few pups/dogs now but they’ve been big breeds. 2x American Bulldog 1x Alapaha, so easy to lure with food because of their height. Any tips to save my back from bending down to lure my Springer pup? 🤣

Excellent..👍👍, you mention the left hand side all the time, is there a reason for the dog to needs to be on the LHS or is that just down to preference, sorry if that a dumb question..

It can be the right if you want - the whole point is; the dog shouldn't be all over the pavement in front of you pulling you from side to side - how can a dog walk to heel if if doesn't know which heel to walk near? It needs to be where you know it is - if it switches round you cannot control it plus you don't always know where to look. You need consistency. Also if you're right handed it allows you the right amount of strength if you're doing a double handed walk with the lead.

Hi, my cocker is three and half months old now. She's pulling on the lead, head down feet off floor sometimes too. I just can't get her to engage/look up at me the floor is much more interesting. She's on a harness as I've read a slip lead can damage small puppies. Is this true and or what do you suggest. I've trained her to sit spin around lie down all in the house with treats but walking nicely is Proving really difficult. Many thanks.

Hey David, it might be worth checking out our free Principles of Canine Behaviour course over on our website to give a better understanding of why this behaviour might have started: www.fenrirdogtraining.com/courses Equally, on our Instagram we do a few Q&A sessions each week you might find helpful checking out. @@willathertonspanielshow6381 I’ll give it a look, it’s progressed to an angry growl and teeth showing. I’ve never had this trouble with any other dog but I’ve only had a handful of Labrador retrievers. Very good dogs

Hiya! Iv recently got a sprocker puppy! She is now 13 weeks old, she is okay behaved but struggles with pulling and getting distracted on walks. She’s been for about 5 walks now. Would you say it’s too late for me to now start doing this and changing from saying sit to heel?

It's just traditional for competing, it's totally up to you which side you choose but the key is just to keep it consistent 😊

the left side also tends to be away from the road, in the UK anyway :)

Am I meant to start heel walking with a sit next to me on the sit command? Or should I use heel command for him to know to sit next to me?
@jennasaurusrex52964 жыл бұрын
I just lured our dog into sit position while walking on a heel with the lure/treat, gave the affirmation marker "yes!" + reward, and then walked on and continued the heel walking. I wanted to separate a specific "Sit" command from the "heel" command.... but I'm not sure if that's what Will / Fenrir would recommend.

We very recently adopted a 1 year old spaniel. He’s a mixed bag of good behaviours and others which need to be learnt, including being on a lead. does the same principle apply with lead training even with him being a bit older than you’re usual puppy? Thanks.

My English Springer Spaniel is 7 months old and a nightmare to walk, nevermind heel. Looking at the few videos found over the last couple of days realising what a mess we have made of him so far. He is such a good dog indoors but turns into the devil's pup as soon as outside of somewhere unknown to him. Can we get him in line with puppy training or is it too late now???

My springer will heel PERFECTLY in the house, in the garden, in the office (not at home) but as SOON as we are in the real world it just is gone. He doesn't respond to treats or toys. He will literally choke himself on the slip lead. I've tried taking a step back and only doing it right outside my house and even that he just will not do. 😭
