How to transfer and play custom wave audio files with Yamaha DTX502 electronic drum.

In this video I'll show you how to copy custom wave (wav) sounds using the software Yamaha Musicsoft Downloader and how to play them with your DTX502. This is a very helpful operation for this e-drum. Thanks for watching.

You can use USB cable and iPhone or iPad to edit any zone on any pad with DTX502 software...snare hi hat anything you want....and thanks for sharing this video, it helped me a lot.

If you want to take advantage of the 3 zone pads, import your separate samples, then while selecting sounds for the user kit, hold the shift button while hitting the zone you want to assign. This lets you set each pad zone independently instead of setting all zones at once.

Last year I discovered a different way. Hold "shift" and "save", move to the "02 kitvoice" , press the "right arrow" one time, then hit the part whose sound you want to change (rim, bell, etc...). But your way is easier and faster. Thank you very much!!

Hi. I don t know exactly. I believe that the MusicsoftDownloader procedure is the same with a lot of Yamaha instruments ( DTX , DGX etc) that can upload audio files (midi , wav etc...) from a PC .

Hi. If you play softly , with a good wave file , snare drum is ok with ghost notes.

Anyway It s very easy to capture a sound from a video/track. You can create thousand of sounds for the dtx. @@GiulioDrums85 Yes, I did all of them, but I don't know if it is because it has wav sound. For example, there is no sensitivity in the snare drum, the sound intensity is the same whether I hit it slow or fast.

@@emroohh Maybe it depends on the quality of the wave file. Try opening and playing the wave file on your computer with any media player. Do you hear the sound immediately or late? The "Play" button corresponds to hitting the drum. If the sound starts late it will not be synchronized with the strike on the drum.

@@emroohh Ok. Sorry I read "fast" and "slow" in your comment. It s strange. Have you tried to regulate sensitivity (gain)? On the dtx panel hold down "kit" button and press " volume + - " to regulate gain.

Does the DTX502 work with roland pd-8’s and BT-1?

They could work fine because I believe They are one-zone pads. At the same time They could work not correctly, especially the BT-1 trigger. Often Yamaha works fine with Roland, sometimes not. The assembly of pads is different too, you should adapt them. Anyway I suggest you to post the question on vdrums.com

I believe any version works well. I have always used the (prehistoric) version 1.2.2 because I like the simple graphical interface.

Yes i confirm you can import any wave audio file using a usb printer cable (no usb port in my dtx 502, unlike the dtx12) and the software "musicsoft downloader".

Hi, I' m sorry but I don't know. In the manual I read that you can connect the 402k to a computer and transfer midi and audio(??) data. You could also try to connect the dtx to your mobile device (installing the dtx touch app -for android or iOS) and see if you can assign a custom wave sound to a pad. It's easier when you use a touch display.

It's a common usb printer cable. You can buy It on Amazon for few dollars. Don't buy a usb 3.0 or a 3 metres cable (or longer).

Hi. Yes. But stereo files are big at least twice as much as mono file. The dtx storage is very limited. Personally I prefer to use mono files.
