How To Transfer Images From Sony To Your Smartphone

Sony has just updated “Playmemories” to “Imaging Edge Mobile” software. It connects via a WIFI hotspot by scanning the QR code that unites your camera with your smartphone. By doing this, image transfer happens wirelessly, so you can instantly upload your images to Instagram, Facebook, or anywhere in the cloud.

Hows it going my friend. I have my card slots set up slot one images and slot two for videos. I can only transfer my images if i recently used the camera for a photo and the same for video. Is that the way is going to be if i want to dedicate my slots to one or the other? Or is my best bet to have both slots for vids / images? Im confused

Thank you for the tip on Imagine Edge Mobile. I've been an a shooter for a while and was using the old playmobile app on my a7ii (terrible app btw) and upon upgrading to an iv, am relived and excited to use something new. They definitely should update all references about PlayMemories to Imaging Edge Mobile via firmware update!

If you do not see the scan code look on your camera screen for the N icon. If that is turned on all you have to do is connect to your cameras WiFi. Then on the app connect using “connect with camera using one touch” when it prompts you to tap your phone. Turn your camera, I have the 5100 to the right side. You will see the same N symbol on your actual camera. point your camera on it and it will upload your photo. No waiting for connection :) if it isn’t on turn it on by going to 1)Wireless 2)one touch (nfc) You should see the N symbol on top of your screen

Hi, camera can’t be pairing / connected with iOS 13.x.x so don’t upgrade your iDevice. There is another app that can do the job (not from Sony), but I don’t know the name. If someone can help an know it.

I have the ZV1 and when I try to connect to my iPhone, sometimes Imaging Edge Mobile apps works/connects, sometimes it doesn't. I've tried setting the location, etc. It either works or it doesn't. Super frustrating;(

Im confused!... how do I upgrade image edge to something something? do the camera send you that app to your phone? do I need to have that app installed in my phone foirst through the playstore? I have a QR installed on my phone but is not the same name as the one you mentioned will that one work? I assume I have to launch the QR code on my phone foist in order to do this or will the camera do it by it self? I'm not very savvy on tech and your explanations are kind of advanced, you are explaining @ marathon pace on a toddler walk but I'm trying! I have a hard time accessing the globe menu but after seeing your finger placing on the buttons I managed to access it, again I'm a beginner on this kind of cameras and I'm not so savvy on tech so this makes it a little harder but thanks for the explanation, I will play with the camera cantrols to familiarize with the camera foir... fist.... 1st!

mine dosnt? 5100 the 6400 or my A7R2.. it finds my wifi then tells me to connect to internet.. which i am with 4G.. try again.. nothing same for the last ten years since my nex 3 nex 5 and now i tried sn ev1 at the camera store.. neither they.. sony dealer or i could transfer anything... only my olympus omD5 mk2 i bought years ago has a system that transfers.. whats wrong with siny and fuji..

There is a MUCH FASTER way -- just hold your phone next to your cameras NFC Antenna and the camera will automatically communicate with your phone / launching the cameras application that's within your phone then your camera automatically transfers the images into your phone

Instead of doing this just get a $10 lighting cable sd reader. Take out the sd card out of your camera and plug it into your lighting cable sd reader connected to your phone, go to files on your iPhone and find the sd reader and then boom, all your photos are there which you can then save to your device. Hi Gary, did exactly as shown but when I went into app to scan code I don’t have option or way to scan code. So I entered the code in WiFi setting, accepted code but all I get on camera screen is “sharing” App says iPhone is connected to camera on Connect to Camera page🤷🏻

I have a6000 and both my S5 and S9 have the same connection issues, I've found a 100% way to upload to mobile but it's a bit annoying. I pick the images I want to transfer and start the transfer. (Pick or choose all) Then I restart my S9 and on startup open Image mobile and it will connect on it's own. (Try and open it before your phone connects to your normal wifi, it's okay if it does.) The app will connect to the camera's wifi and begin the transfer. ( Ignore the warning if you get one from Image mobile it should still connect, if after a few seconds it doesn't auto connect it's safe to press connect and it will still work as described.) This method works every time, I don't know why you can't simply connect to the camera's wifi with Samsung. It will start to transfer and fail or fail halfway, only when it's the first or second connection will it remain connected and finish the transfer.

It’s because it converts the raws to jpegs before sending. I scrolled down in a window that pops up before sending, and it says it black in white that it will only transfer in jpeg and heic even if the picture was taken in raw. I wonder if there is way around this. Anyone?

download the imaging edge, make an account . when you have to scan Qr code scan the N from the side of the camera or the bottom one. hopefully this helps x

I have just wasted 3 precious hours frustratingly trying every which way to get the IEM app to register and function and then transfer images from my Sony RX10m4 with no success. This included an hour on a chat line trying to solve the problem to FINALLY discover that my Samsung A22 is not good enough so not compatible with this app. It has to be the later S versions. I am FURIOUS!!! Why can't the app creators warn us of this before one has to waste time trying to figure out this useless app.
