One tip: just because a flight says 100$ round trip doesn’t mean that’s all it will cost. Many airlines charge expensive fees for carry-ons and bag checks. So the total could actually be an additional 200$ more even though the plane ticket was only a given amount. This was mentioned near the end of the video but I just wanted to clarify and explain a little. Hope this helps, keep it up ❤️👍
@LaniakeaLeathercrafts5 жыл бұрын
Another tip to keep in mind this month. Last year, I wanted to go to Sweden but tickets were on average $900-$1300 round trip. HOWEVER, I pulled up ticket prices within a few days after Thanksgiving and prices were $300-$600. If you're planning a trip for early 2020, maybe take a look on the Monday/Tuesday after Thanksgiving and see if you get similar results!

I travel a lot with my family and everything said in this video is great advice but there are a few other things that should be said/emphasized: 1. Carry on luggage will sometimes have a weight limit but besides that, it is significantly cheaper and more convenient than checked luggage 2. Book flights (especially across seas) as early as possible not just a few weeks. A flight from California to Paris with a week notice can be close to $1000 whereas 5 months notice is about $400 3. If you're staying in a spot for a few days go to a store and buy oatmeal, ramen, ect. Like the vending machine in the video, it will be much cheaper than buying full cooked meals 4. Rather than load up on souvenirs, find a specific thing you want to collect on trips. Personally, I really love getting a small sticker to put on my suitcase. They're cheap and take up no space. 5. Understand the monetary conversion for the country you're going to. Many places that attract tourism can overcharge for a lot of things. By having a good understanding of the country's money in comparison to your country's money you can better judge if an item is worth the cost.

That Pod hotel looks pretty cool. Here is a pretty cool travel tip i learned from my high school math teacher. See if you can make arraignments with the place that you are staying at and have your luggage shipped there. Some shipping companies will have a round trip shipping option for one set shipping price back and fourth. It sometimes cost a few extra buck but it avoids the hassle of carrying luggage.

Try to look for a cheap gateway airport like Miami and nearby low cost airline airport a few miles away. When I was a young person I happily stayed in dorms at hostels. I used their kitchen and bought food from supermarkets. It is worth traveling with lightweight luggage. Try an open jaw flight and then travel overland using trains or buses. For Example Singapore overland Hanoi is excellent for that.
@formulaone075 жыл бұрын
Nate, what do you think of this idea: Rent an Airbnb and stuff the fridge with local groceries. This way you can cook your own personal or family meals and prepare cheap sandwiches and snacks for day excursions. It's another way to save money during the trip. This could also make things easier for those with food constraints, such as people who follow a specific diet (vegan/kosher/low fat etc.) or who have food sensitivities or allergies. Obviously, this isn't for foodies or those who value the convenience of restaurants as part of their travel experience.

Good advice. I regularly travel with my wife and meet up with her sister who lives around the world in Korea. We usually book Airbnb's...and I enjoy cooking fun, simple meals with whatever local ingredients I find. It's another form of tourism that lets me explore supermarkets and farmers markets. We do go out for a certain number of meals, so we don't go overboard. But I'm actually a pretty great home cook so I find it easy to improvise. I was just in Portugal last month and made several amazing seafood meals from catch that was just off the coast of the most famous Marine National Forest--prawns the size of bananas, tuna steaks. They cost me maybe 50 bucks and I made 4-5 meals of them. In comparison, the fancy seafood meal in Lisbon that was a must-have-famous-place put on the map by Anthony Bourdain was a disappointment. And just for that meal, we paid 250 dollars. My advice is to always pay for the very best Airbnb you can afford in the very best, central neighborhood. Then, limit yourself to one super high end souvenir for yourself. Everybody else gets postcards or cheap local foods. And really think that you're going to save money by having fun in the kitchen!

Great high-level tips :) Good for people who have never travelled before, otherwise it seems common knowledge for the ones who have. Can't wait to see the video on packing light. I'm planning on a solo-trip for 3-6months and as someone who adores their clothing, it's going to be difficult to pack just a few items haha. Can you include bag recommendations?

The $15 doesn't allow you to bring carry on bags without charges

You can take a backpack though. For couple days stay its enough.

1 personal item is included. So just pack a small duffel bag. Flown frontier several times and have never bought a carry on. Traveled to Vegas from east coast on weekends round trip for $40-60 when they run a sale on direct flights.

I always spend less on travel per day than what I manage to earn in a day. Are you making these b-rolls or you've got them from somewhere? It looks amazing...

Back in 2004 I bought a ticket from Berlin to London for 0,01 Euro. Yes, that's one cent! Airport tax was 30 Euros or so, but it was still an unbelievable deal and everything went fine :-)

Felt like I was watching a movie. I agree hotels are too expensive. If going solo, hostels are the way to go. Airbnb for groups. Great tips for people to learn from!

"Don't invite yourself to other peoples houses", that's something my mum always said too. You could probably make a whole video on advice like this that you got from your mum, get a crockpot etc...maybe for Mother's Day.

Another great tip is credit card points and miles. I'm flying from San Diego to Atlanta and Atlanta to Orlando then back to San Diego during Christmas time for basically nothing with a free checked bag on each flight.

Good thing that I traveled the world cheaply before I was 20. I'm glad to see this video, knowing how much travel experiences I gained so far.
