I know seeing BBA in your tank can be distressing, but peroxide is a very safe way to manage it when used in small amounts. What other ways have you tried to reduce BBA?

Great to see how easily it is to be able to remove bba. Thought I had to chuck all my plants, this is a great save! The close up macro shots are very cool too.

Thanks very much! Yeah, it is definitely a lot easier than I thought. Clears it up quickly too. Thanks for watching!

I've been battling bba for 2 decades and I can atest that you can't eliminate them but you can definitely reduce them to almost not visible. Detritus build up and infrequent water changes are the 2 main reasons for them to spread fast. Seachem Excel and Hydrogen peroxide combination can quickly bring bba under control but cannot eradicate them 100%.

Thank you I’ve been really worried about the peroxide hurting my fish but I will try this method. I have a really bad case. It is covering my filter and plants. It’s awful.

You know, I added the roots of a house plant into my tank and it absorbed a lot of the nutrients and out competed the BBA. Dramatic reduction.

You've got really high production in your videos. What are you using to film if I may ask. I'm just starting to see bba in my tank now, this is very helpful.

Thank you for your nice comments. I'm using a SONY A6500 and I have a wide angle lens and a 90mm Macro which allows me to get all those super close up shots.

Great video man, my BBA was bubbling when I spot treated it at the core of my phonix moss chunks where it had settled, yet I can't say I see anything. I only did it once cuz even if I wasnt using much for a 55 gallon, sometimes my kuhli loaches freaking out(could be over nothing) made me stop trying cuz I know how sensitive they are to compare to all my other fish. I did notice 1 spot turn kinda white but I still didnt see it fall. Because the spots are anchored in my tank I couldnt take them out, but I lowered water level drastically to spray them and then slowly refilled the tank. I wonder if that will help! It aint easy but it would be nice for my moss to grow huge someday 😅 All of my other plants are "extra" right now. If the kuhli loaches don't dig them up, my hillstream loach will when she does that butterfly motion stuff. Keep up the good videos, was pretty smooth flowing.

Thanks for your nice comments! Yeah, it is a delicate balance with light and mostly nutrients too. Once I introduced a house plant into my tank, the algae went down dramatically as the plant out competed the algae for nutrients. Keep up the experiments!

Another good but albeit more expensive is flourish excel dosing.

Do you have a "recipe" for a plant dip to treat BBA for plants that aren't as hardy as bucephalandra? I've tried a few experiments and I've melted a lot of plants 🙂

I would simply not dip it as long, perhaps for 30 seconds to a minute.= and no more, especially for softer stem plants. Either that, or you can dilute the peroxide by 50% and see how that works for you. Let me know what you try :)

is it safe for all fish and shrimps?

Yes it is but in small quantities. You need to figure out how much per volume of water in your tank.

this is only a short term solution though, it won't help long term.

You're correct. Overall, there also needs to be a good balance of light and nutrients. Definitely a delicate dance.
