Hi Russ! Just checking out your video - thanks! I like the long toe flexor training. I also commonly see turf toe with laterally dominant athletes who roll off the 1st MTP with an externally rotated LE. Trying to correct the lateral dominance and lack of DF has also been helpful! I didn't suffer an impact, I just developed it slowly over a long period time (if turf toe is what I have that is. Or maybe it's gout). My toe has grown out to the side a bit & is sore when I walk. And it's like it is closer to the floor when I'm in my joggers (than my other toe/foot)

I’d appreciate a respond because I can’t afford a MRI and I’m not sure what grade I have and how to approach recovery. I didn’t hyperextend the big toe joint instead I hyperflexed it. I’m not sure how to go about treating it. It’s been swelled for a little while now and still hurts. There was slight bruising but nothing too bad.

Im a level 4 cheerleader and I got this in October from landing one of my tumbling passes with my toe bent upwards and Ive been told by my dad I just need to stretch and im fine but last night at practice I was stunting (every time im in practice or doin any physical activity the ball of my foot of my big toe hurts like im stepping on a knife) an it was hurting so bad I wanted to cry but I fought through it. But then my stunt fell and my flyer fell on my toe and I just started crying. My coach called her mom (she works at first aid) and she came to look at it and she said it was most likely a turf toe or a small possibility of a stress fracture. It wouldn't bother me so much if I haven't had competition today in like 5 hours...

I think I have turf toe in a way.. I was riding one of those y flicker scooter and wasn't wearing shoes... was wearing socks and sandals (I learned my lesson).. i picked up too much speed while trying to turn and flipped the scooter as I was sent leaning back. My foot kicked the cement road kind of hard in the position described but luckily i guess it's not my big toe that hurts.. it's my three middles toes. I'm hoping it's just sprained and I didn't break anything. We'll see how it feels tomorrow morning. If any medical pros see my comment I'd greatly appreciate an opinion!

happened to me 3 weeks ago at jud i think. Haven't seen a doctor yet. will do though.
@daniyal903610 ай бұрын
The issue in my country was that many doctors hadn’t heard about this injury so instead of them telling me what to do, I researched well and then went to see my physio-therapist who also had not heard about this injury but because of what I directly suggested to him, he researched it and then treated it as such. I am now feeling much better. His main instruction for the ligament to heal was not to bend it forward or backwards and ice the area 3-4 times a day. Depending on the injury the rest varies, in my case he told me to stop playing football for 4 weeks with continues icing and avoid bending while walking. After that I went to get my toe checked every week and it got better every time. Rest and icing are the main ingredient which can fix ligament injuries. My current position is that my injury is healed about 70% after which my doc told me to rest and ice for another week then after he has assessed the area, I’ll probably be allowed to get back into my sport.
@yungjan3908Ай бұрын
Hey, how are you feeling now? The doctors told me to just rest and everything should be better after about a week but it’s been more than a month now. Like yourself this injury is not well known in my country so I’m unsure what to do
@daniyal9036Ай бұрын
@@yungjan3908 so fast forward to where I am now, I kinda didn't fully listen to my doctor and got back back to my sport earlier then what was suggested which had an adverse effect on my toe. I also haven't done any strengthening exercises which would have helped I guess. So right now, I can play and run but I can't bend it 100% like I used to and push off it meaning I can't put full weight on it. So doing split lunges is hard when I switch to this leg at the back where my toe has to bend so I have to angle my foot in a way that my big injured toe doesn't bend that much, the weight is on my smaller toes. Also I have realized shoes play a huge role in healing, wearing hard sole shoes which are padded on the inside are better than thinner soled shoes because they provide much more support. So in short my injury is stuck at 70% healed. I think the other 30% can be fixed with rehab exercises, I just haven't gotten to them yet.
@daniyal9036Ай бұрын
@@yungjan3908 So my current situation is that my toe is only healed up 70%. The other 30% requires rehab exercises. I can't fully bend my injured toe or put full weight on it when I bend it. Wearing hard soled shoes helps a lot rather than thin shoes. Doing lunges is really hard because it's hard to fully bend the injured toe, instead I have to adjust my angle to divide the weight on my smaller toes. When moving around the toe doesn't hurt st all, now it just hurts when I bend it all the way back and then put force or weight on it. I'm pretty sure rehab exercises can fix it, I just haven't gotten around to them.

From my experience, you have to stop any exercises and pay attention to walking carefully as well.. I had a football match a period of time after I got turf toe, and I guessed I was OK to do all of those things. But the fact is I had to spend longer time to recover. The most important thing is to immobilize your injured foot until I won't feel any pain. Or you could suffer longer.. Hope you get better soon

I got a turf toe from an unexpected cause: a shoe. Got it a week and a half ago and it felt like a break. Went to Urgent Care and they said it was a sprain. After doing research, I found out it was clearly Turf Toe. Diagram explains it too. I was wearing sandals that had a platform heel thing. Then that night I wore regular heels. I thought my feet just needed a break. At least I'm doing better now. Hot washcloth helped too. Still have to be careful though.

I had this same exact scenario happen to me, last night, at my TaeKwonDo practice.... Well, before the actual class started... A 7-year-old tackled me from behind, I tried to get out of his grab, darted away from him, and he fell onto my heel, while my big toe was still flat on the ground.... Never seen anything like this, so I thought it would be better in the morning.... It's a BIT better, but this video clears it up, nicely. :)

Agree, the doctors here in Australia were absolutely useless. I had X-Rays, MRIs, steroid injections, physiotherapy and nothing. I suggested turf toe a bunch of times but they didn't know what I was talking about. 3 years on I really want to get back to normal. The pain is still acute if I stand on tip toes (ie the first meta is off the ground too) so any sport involving lateral movement really irritates it. My foot has never been in a moon-boot, but I have developed an outward pronation from avoiding pressure on the area when the injury was fresher. Does anyone have any advice on treatment down the track??

@@diecobra4243 hey so my injury isnt really a turf toe. I sort of twisted or sprained my toe while playing basketball and t looked heavily like it was a turf toe. Lost stability couldnt really put weight on it, which meant i couldnt run at full speed or jump properly or make quick lateral movements, or else it would just twist and id end up on the ground. Best conclusion ive come to is tht i overstretched a ligament or something. And after all uve read in my previous comment, it still hasnt healed. But something has recently changed for the better. This one day, i drank an obscene amount of water and i felt a weird pop down there, and suddenly i felt an improvement, i tested it, and it was able to sustain more weight which meant an improvement occurred. Im still not comfortable playing sports though cant fully move around as if its fine think im halfway there. More healing left to happen hopefully.
