Our brains are playing catch-up with modern technology, social media, and the internet. The systems that our brains evolved over thousands of years are no match for technological advancement that happened in the last 30 years, and unfortunately, they can be exploited for money and profit. If you present your brain food from 2021 that is highly engineered and tailored to taste good, your brain doesn't think that maybe the food is full of sugars or fat, instead, its reward pathways are super-stimulated and it imagines that "this is the best thing ever!". Similarly, every hot girl or guy on social media is the next potential partner.. at least for your brain. Casinos exploit the fact that when we anticipate a reward, and there is a small chance for a very high reward, our dopaminergic system goes crazy. This holds true, for all of the other addictive behaviors mentioned in the video. I think it is necessary and important to educate ourselves on how our brains work, so we are not manipulated into acting out on our deepest instincts.

At least that's why social addiction starts, but it doesn't have to be that way - if we are addicted to social media, that doesn't solve the underlying issue.

Wooow, thank you so much for this video. I have an unhealthy relationship with food and with social media / playing games. Now I am aware of what my brain does and I can make better decisions :) Lack of motivation and joy was something that really made my functioning hard for the last few months. All the things that should be done didn't seem interesting and the results of doing them weren't giving me any pleasure or satisfaction. Turns out I just became kind of numb for the normal stimuli, because I was bombarding my brain with extra-strong stimuli (which additionally I have given too much value and importance to). Let the fasting become :D Funny thing. Recently I bought myself lots of books and magazines. Somehow, intuitively I knew I should go more offline and change the way I keep myself entertained and that I should calm my brain down and just slow down.

Taking one thing at a time will help you to become more successful at making any changes. it's important to conquer one at a time before moving on to the next one. This is going to make it much easier and you're going to be much more successful doing it this way. If you mess up one day. When you get up the next morning don't think about yesterday. Take today and do that one well.💙

The key factor is you can shift WHAT makes you happy. Image you list out the top 100 things that make you happy where the lowest numbers on that list, 1, 2, 3, are what make you the most happy. Also imagine that for your list #77 is doing a sink load of dirty dishes. If you give up #1 through #76 forever, you'll find yourself really enjoying doing a sink load of dirty dishes. It's literally the most enjoyable thing that you allow yourself to do. You will still have the same amount of happiness in your life with #1 through #76 gone forever. I gave up my #1 a couple years ago. In return I got a new healthier #1 that actually enriches my life instead of alienating me. I'm living a healthier life. This life change didn't change my level of happiness. My level of happiness will always be incredibly miserable.

Just curious, do you have sources for your claims? Are you a psychologist or something simmilar? Or are your video's motivational, just made for entertainment with an extra eye for positive reinforcement? I'm not discarting your claims perse, but i am curious, it is all presented in a factual way, which can be problematic if it isn't truely so.
