If you're burnt out, you need to rest and not work more. The idea expressed in the video is solid, but what's described in the intro is not the healthiest way to live your life. Like, should you really strive to be so productive that you end up with a burn out afterwards? I just feel like these kinds of topics benefit from a more balanced perspective that acknowledges that if you have to constantly push yourself and trick yourself into something, then it may not be a thing you need.

I'm a big supporter of people doing what works fir them. I'm not sure people need to "trick" themselves into doing something, rather train themselves to engage in more positive self-talk and develop a more optimistic "explanatory style" about life events. Sometimes, positive affirmations, visualizations, even role plays are helpful. Cognitive-behavioral techniques are excellent and they are what should be made in to a habit. Yes, some specific skills may be necessary if they are lacking (assertiveness, body language, interview skills, flirting) but most people don't need to learn that many social skills. Changing how we think is really the most important habit we need to develop.

Yeah, I agree!! People just need to make sure that their trick is not harmful, cause I accidentally taught myself to wash hands every time I draw. Sounds not so bad? Yeah, no, I draw on a daily basis cause I want to pursue my art and animation career, so over the time and frequent hand washes my hands started to feel weird. Now it’s even a slightly uncomfortable to touch them and I don’t know what to do to stop this. I’m afraid if I go even further, my hands will be damaged even more and that’s a big NO to an artist.

This is why seperating “work space” and “home” is very important. I struggled a lot with getting out of bed or even eating because I used to do everything in my room, especially my bed. I would sleep, do work, eat and play on my bed all day long that it sort of became everything. You have to seperate your life into sections, kind of like games, you can’t mine coal unless you’re in a cave and you can’t get wood unless you’re in a forest. So you can’t sleep unless it’s you’re in your bedroom, you can’t eat unless it’s in the kitchen. Separate your work place from your home space. Just a corner in your room JUST for you to do work and focus, it should also be a place that you always walk by that will really reinforce the idea of “might as well do work” instead of ignoring it all together to avoid work.

I think it's not something that works "no matter what", but what you do before work or before anything that takes intense focus, can definitely affect how well you both feel and perform when doing it. But I also have times I simply can not get into a focused state (usually that's after work when I'm already tired). We still all have our limits.

I think for a lot of women who wear makeup, this is essentially what we’re doing. I often describe doing my makeup as “putting my game face on” & it gets me mentally ready for the day. I’m glad makeup is becoming more acceptable for men because i think many men could benefit from it too

I was close to figuring something like this out once. I was very stressed and low on motivation, and thought: "Okay, I know I need to do this and that, but let's not stress myself for now, and just cook a proper meal for once" It worked, and I tried replicating this experience, but it didn't work that well.

I needed this, been watching your videos because I'm having the same problem, overworked then burnt out, quit my job, now I'm studying for a licensure exam. However, I'm having a hard time actually studying. There's a lot of distractions and I try to make a "study area" and only using it for studying. But my biggest problem is /when/ I study because I just can't get into the mood of it. So I will try this, I really think self-discipline is the best motivation, kind of.

now that i realize this, i do art and sometime soon wanna start animating if not just post art on my yt, but lately ive had such a bad burnout, i forced myself everyday to atleast do one drawing piece but lately i cant even pick up my apple pencil nor get it out of its pocket i looked back to when i was so motivated in art and drew alot and actually enjoyed it and never forced myself, i had a routine every morning during that time when i felt better, wake up early immediately no checking devices and just jump out of bed, take my dog out on a long walk on a sunny morning, then have some hot healthy tea, and just that whole era of me doing that i felt so much happier and motivated to do stuff, now i wake up at 1pm and takes me 20 minutes to lift my body up, and even after that, i dont go outside or anything, (sometimes i will to grab mail)then i just start off my day by eating leftovers or just something unhealthy, i dont know 100% if that affected my motivation in art, but overall it just made me feel better i dont rlly attend on anyone reading this i kinda just made this for myself xD

I've been a little lazy about cooking for myself this school year. But I think I found my "showtime" cue. This morning, I was so tired and I could barely get up. However, when I took that first step of just bringing the ingredients out I'm instantly in the zone. Even more so when I open up a recipe, despite knowing all the steps already.

I kind of have this for school but it's not just one outfit. If I'm feeling self conscious or anxious I wear something that makes me look like a snack and it gives me this ballsy but mature attitude. I have been wearing the same combination of clothes during the summer: some kind of shorts, a fitted shirt or crop top, and these tights that were woven into patterns. Now time to get my fall/winter showtime together..
