Good video for zippo wick maintenance, what do you use to trim your wick ?

@@Zippofanatic77outdoors I did repack wick and cottton (cotton bacon) a few times and straightened and bend the wicks a few times resulting in one of my copper wires ripped in the middle of the wick...should I not use this wick with a ripped copper wire in the middle or this is something I should not worry about? the wick has never been trimmed , almost 4 inch..kinda lazy to repack again and maybe use even more cotton bacon. TLDR: I ripped one of my copper wire in the middle of the wick, does this make the wick bad and better change it or it's insignificant?
@TheShaggyRifleman Жыл бұрын
1. I dont trim wick to adjust flame height but rather pull it back into the insert 2. Dont trim off the entirety of charred portion, only trim off the deformed / badly damaged portion. saves wick and allows it to last longer and last but not least, i keep my wick level at the bottom of the top center chimney hole. I find thats the perfect height for me.

A small pair of nail clippers works really well for trimming the wick too if you don’t have a leatherman or one of these micro sheers

@cemetery895 Жыл бұрын
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors It is so good, I like it alot, the fuel lasts a little longer than the Zippo insert. The only downside is it takes about a little bit longer to do maintenance because you have to get the gasket to be flush with the insert. But it is no problem really.
@Zippofanatic77outdoors Жыл бұрын
@@cemetery895 no the gasket always sits flush because there are stoppers welded on into the inside of the insert. Only problem is that spiked thing doesnt want to penetrate th cotton when u pack to much in. Yeah I’m glad u like it fun little insert. Looks sharp too.

Thank's for sharing this informative video , Before I knew to remove the flint , from your not in use Zippos, I had a couple that the flint corroded , I got a suggestion I found on You Tube , using a small drill bit , I was nervous of damaging the thread ( no damage ) I was wondering what is your method of removing a corroded flint , Thank's in advance Jim
