Installed the same HKS turbo kit on my brz about a year ago at this time, and this video is spot on. The whole entire process explained here is identical to what I did as well. I’m also over 100,000 miles on 13psi and the cars been running for over a year now. Great video man.

Thank you so much Owen! I am happy to hear the video was able to provide accurate info. If I ever go forced induction I am definitely going with this kit.

How much did it cost u?

Honestly, a really great video with helpful information. The more common route I've seen for forced induction from the community has been supercharging as opposed to turboing these cars (Jackson Racing supercharger kit, typically) from what I remember. Good to know about more options though, even if I'm NOWHERE close to considering any kind of forced induction for my FRS. Keep the videos coming Nick! Really love learning from you and the 86 community.

i just finished my turbo setup on my frs. I used the JDL kit (best on the market imo) and its a blast. My car has exactly 100k miles on it. Garret 2860 on pump 93. It was so worth it. For anyone reading this who is thinking about going turbo, I highly suggest JDL. You can spec out the kit with EVERYTHING you need to get the car running (map sensor, pre-welded oil pan etc.) Also an STI PCV valve and clamps on all of the vaccum hoses under the intake are a very good thing to take care of and it costs very little.

@@timothyt7468I don’t see any reason you’d really need to wait

You can buy a pre welded oil pan if your looking to turbo your frs. Full blown and jdl offer it

Just came across your channel recently and I’m loving the content! I picked up a 2013 BRZ and plan on drifting it down the line. I think a video of different front bumpers would be cool! Can’t decide what I wanna buy lol

i'm currently going down this route myself and I would add to make sure you are up to date on major maintenance (eg replacing spark plugs and fuel pump), get your injectors bench cleaned and tested (to avoid fuel issues which seems to be a big killer of engines) and to go ham on heat management- turbo blanket, header wrap, insulating wires, shielding cam sensors and whatnot from heat etc. It might be necessary to run a bigger radiator or some ducting depending on the conditions you are trashing it in. Apparently its also good to keep engine oil temp to below 115C when pushing it too.

Swapping the fuel pump isn't necessary unless going with ethanol or aiming for 500+ hp. 1 bar is one atmosphere at sea level, so 14.5 to 14.7 psi. If you have a 3 bar map sensor, that allows you to read 1 bar of natural atmospheric pressure plus 2 bars of boost, or about 29 to 30 psi. For most people this is what most people stay within. 4 bars will get you up near 45psi of boost.

Watch my video from a few weeks back about gt86 drift setup. We go into depth about the steering controller! It is a $50 mod that is absolutely necessary if you add significant power or angle to your car.
