This is great. I’m pretty new to crochet and as I’m quite perfectionistic by nature I have always wondered if it makes a difference. I originally learned with turning it the “wrong” way (I think of it like turning the page of a book) but as I watch a lot of tutorials I noticed the majority of the, turning it the back (right) way, so I followed suit and switched. It’s nice to see someone really flesh it out. Thank you 🙏

I've been turning my work THEN chaining my 'turning chain'. I will take the crochet hook OUT of the work, turn it, THEN insert my hook back into the loop making sure the loop is straight, then I chain up the number of chains needed for the "turning" chain and crochet back across. It makes it easier to find that last stitch, especially in single or hdc.

@@wandavikhriy5478 It is difficult to sell finished product and not very profitable. For all the time, effort and cost involved, people do not like to pay. This is why I only design and sell patterns. If the only way you want to sell your talent is with finished product, then you need to find unique items that are easy and fast for you to make. You don't want to spend weeks on something intricate that nobody wants to pay a premium price for. As for getting your work seen...I would suggest setting up a Facebook page to feature your work, but maybe don't start selling right away. Maybe wait until you develop a bit of a following and/or people start asking to buy. Feature your work on FB group pages. Become a regular participant in several FB groups, answering questions and showing your work. Once you get a decent following on FB, then try Etsy. For my biz, I started a blog to send people to my Etsy shop. It is very difficult to get sales on Etsy unless you do your own marketing (on Facebook for example). I didn't start my FB biz page until a couple years into the business. This is all just the tip of the iceberg. There is quite a lot that goes into starting a crochet business. I hope this is somewhat helpful.

I am watching and I see twisting both ways. I never do my turn chains until after I turn my work so not sure how that applies to your theory here but I do see the difference when you point out the side done "your way" as opposed to the way the other side looks done "the wrong". But again let me repeat I see the twist happening when you turn either direction in the video.
@CrazyCoolCrochet Жыл бұрын
I guess it's a matter of perception? I haven't had anyone else say they see twisting both ways. I did test the turn first, then chain theory after the video was done. A few others asked the question so I did a swatch. It still twists the tiniest bit at the turn (with no chain). However, when the chain is done the difference is negligible.
