Here in the UK, the peace sign can be offensive if you turn it backwards with the knuckles showing (but it's seen as less offensive than flipping the bird). Hi, I like the skates :) It's mostly the same as to how I do it too for myself. One thing I'd like to know is what the shop does about the insoles. Do they remove them before drilling the holes, or just drill through the insoles & maybe put another new insole over the original, or just let you stand on directly on top the screws? I find removing the insoles a big chore as they are often glued in really well & rip apart when attempting removal.

What I got they did take the soles out and then o put them in. I have vans, I’m unsure what you have though. It may depend on it.

Docs have removable soles. So it’s pretty easy to remove. So do Vans. I’d say they’ll just drill through the insole if they can’t be removed and you’d just find a different sole to put on top of it.

I’m wanting to make a pair of doc martin roller skates and I’m wondering if they put a metal insole inside the shoe and if you had to buy bigger shoes because of that?

so origanlly that was the plan, Suzy told me that i would be fine with out the metql plate because my boots were sturdy enough and not all flexible like vans for exaple, i did get these in a little bigger size for this purpose, i HAVE to wear thick socks with these skates for that purpose :) hopes this helps!

I’ve heard some shoes just can’t take the stress of lateral pushing because they’re not built for that. Would love to see an update video on how they’ve done!

Molly Austin yes they’re holding up super well ! I am thinking about doing a video on how they’ve held but my only issue with them is that the ankle area is a bit wobbly, especially when I use them at the skate park 🛹

Karen the Karrot good to know! Have you considered trying those little heel bootie things? I have some for derby and they keep my heel from slipping when I go up on my toe stops. They feel like they add some ankle support, but I might be imagining that since they’re pretty flexible too 😅 I think that would be the first thing I tried if I felt wobbly because I like my ankle nice and snug.

Amaranth Elk we were originally going to put them in but the boot itself was very sturdy and decided to not put it to make it lighter . On other shoes like vans, it is very necessary 👍

can you use indoor wheels outside? I've got gummy wheels and it's like I can't even turn or skid them across the ground AT ALL because they'll stick and it's made me fall so many times

not really recommended u can fall since its easier to feel all the little bumps and cracks on the street like that i know a lot of skaters have two pairs of skates for indoors and outdoors but also i dont hear of that problem usually? maybe try getting combo wheels that are a bit of both i know moxi sells them forsure but their shipment is delayed for the time being

For the boots do you get them true to size or size up?

docs are usually true to size but for me I'm usually a size 7.5 and I went down to 7. So if your size is in the middle I would say go down.

Yup! But with wheels. I have customs but instead of Dr. Martins they’re vans. But yeah it’s just shoes with wheels. I highly recommend getting 1/2-1 size up if you’re getting them custom, though, as the metal insole they put in under the sole tightens it up for sure, I wish I knew that, as it took me a lot longer to break in because of it.
