When you cook Breakfast and are doing Bacon. You can use the Bacon grease to cook the Potatoes and Eggs. No need for the Olive oil. but after a year you may have been told or figured that out. Great Video.

I couldnt find one I liked so I made my own. Carbon steel, 18" x 30". Went to Metal Supermarket and got the cut pieces for $65 Canadian and welded it up, and ground the welds. But It needs seasoning. I'm halfway there after 3 rounds. I have a hot BBQ so I will try lining the underside with a sheet of copper I've had for 30 years, so I can still get even heat but with only one or two burners on. My guess is SS needs to be seasoned as well, before food doesnt stick like it does for buddy here.

Hi Charles, great video! My new griddle is working great on my Genesis but now I need a caddy for my sauces and tools. I have to bring out a ton of tools and sauces, to make up my Roast pork fried rice. Most caddies I find online don't make the hanger clamps wide enough for our Genesis grills. If you ever find a way to hang a caddy on these grills please post it. Thanks!

You're right. I searched a bit for a bbq caddy and did not find anything under $400 CAD. At that price they have nothing special. Few hooks to hang few tools, 2 shelves. Meeh! I gave up, and figured I can walk 12 feet to bring my stuff on the patio table. A good idea would be to get a big trey where you can put all your sauces and ingredients on, and bring everything one shot dressed as a Dracula or Elvis Presley.

$125 for that griddle adapter is not too bad. Wouldn’t it be better if you could take off the Weber grills for more intense heat since it would be closer to the burners?

I bought a really heavy duty stainless griddle for my Weber Spirit grill. It kind of works, but honestly does not get nearly hot enough for cooking high temperature foods like burgers and stir frying veggies and hash browns like you should. For the $100 you spend on this, it's better to get a Royal Gourmet 24" tabletop griddle. It works like a real griddle should. Also, a real griddle does not need to be "cleaned". Just scrape it off, and wipe lightly with oil. Done.

i have a drop in unit which gets it closer to the heat source. Yeah, I have to remove the grates, but honestly if I'm using my natural gas weber I''m mostly using it for griddle purposes, so it's not that much of a problem.

From what Ive read its better to buy one the same size as the grates dimensions then remove the grates and place the griddle on the ledges holding the grates for better heat. Ive never seen one that goes directly on the grates like this might be why its not hot enough. My grates are 19.5 x 26 inch. The 19.5 is the front to back that the grates sit on , they do make them to exact fits.Mine is a 2007 and weber only makes their inserts for 2016 genesis and later so I need an off brand one .

Only problem with that is it can cause excessive heat build up in the lower grill pan. Will over heat it and cause the expensive grill to burn out quickly. It gets plenty hot sitting on the grates. I actually raised mine off the grates a little to allow heat to escape the grill pan. Still works great. Although mine is custom made out of 3/16 cold roll steel.

Good video, did you have to season the griddle first ?
@8bittimetraveler834
@8bittimetraveler834 5 ай бұрын
Just to give you an idea, the first time I used mine, I've put bacon on it to season it, and to test it. Well, that bacon sticked as hell on the surface. If course I've been able to remove the bacon, and flip it, but there was a strong resistance. In other words, everything we cook on this needs at least a little oil. At the end, I ALWAYS need to take that griddle in the kitchen sink to deep wash it with water and S.O.S. wool (best thing I tried to remove the stains). If I want to cook something quick, then I stay away from that griddle and use a good made in USA non stick pan I have (not iron cast. I don't like it. It's way too much job). I'm telling you.... this griddle is awesome, but it's much more job, and it takes much more time than cooking in a kitchen with good pans. About the taste, it doesn't taste special at all. It tastes very standard.

I did buy an aluminum reversible griddle grill plate from Walmart by Viking brand or something that I thought would have been thicker and have done the job but the first time I used it to grill chicken breast the heat of the burners on my stove warped the crap out of it and turned it into a corkscrew so no longer will I be getting those I know cast iron and carbon still are pretty resilient

Hi. I'm using this Little Griddle (the big one) since a little less than 2 months and I'd like to share few hints and tricks: - In the official instructions, Little Griddle advises that the maximum heat to use is 400f for their griddls. You want to be around 375F, and 395F. If you crank your propane to the top, think about reducing it to medium - medium/low (depending of your BBQ) after 10 minutes or so. Use a laser thermometer to check the heat. Very important. Keep in mind that it's always warmer on the top corners. When the griddle is too hot (over 400F), particles will burn and will make dark stains. That will be hard to clean. - While you cook, always sweep the accumulation of fat and small residues off your griddle in the grease tab or it will be a pain to wash later. Get a cleaning spatula for that. If you get brown stains, and want to get rid of them, do never use heavy duty wool as I did the first time I used it. It makes scratches and you don't want that. Little Griddle recommends to use SOS steel wool. The fibers are very thin and you can't scratch your griddle with that. If you have stains that resist, put carbon powder on the stains, poor vinegar, wait few minutes, and rob with some SOS. I store my Little Griddle in my BBQ with a BBQ liner on it. Before that, I generously spray it with Pam vegetable oil. We can also spread it with grease shortening to prevent rust.

Good idea with the vinegar. I have one of these and it has accumulated stains. I will try the vinegar next time. I will also try some 00 steel wool (basically even finer than a SOS pad) in a small section.

@@briankrian3834 Hello there. That's a good idea, but most importantly, make sure not to exceed a temperature of 400F. Keep a safety net of 380F. Over 400F, some particles burn and the griddle will be very hard to clean. It's a must to have a laser thermometer to check the temperature of the surface. I have a 4 burner Napoleon BBQ and always keep the BBQ burners set on LOW. This way, I keep the griddle under 400F. Each BBQ is different

Cleaning the griddle isn’t that different from cleaning a SS skillet. The surface should be hot when you apply water. The steam will lift the fond from the surface. It’s called deglazing.

You’re doing the cleanup wrong .. Your griddle surface needs to be HOT , then you pour the water on which will immediately deglaze the surface and loosens off all the fond ,, then wipe it clean . It also looks like this griddle was not properly seasoned ,, there are many videos on KZbin explaining how to season stainless steel cooking surfaces 😊

@monkeyb1820

they still work fine with NG. I say this based on two things: I've been putting a carbon steel pan on my NG grill to make burgers and it works well--but I'll admit that although they still cook fast, maybe they need 60-90 seconds longer than a blazing hot propane griddle. And someone was just telling me how they use an NG conversion kit with a small Blackstone, and it works fine for them. So maybe the NG is like 75% as 'hot' as the propane--but it's still hot enough to do the job.

I understand that cast iron is preferable for even heating of the cooking surface however the trade off is it requires constant seasoning and meticulous cleaning. Stainless is slightly less even temperature but no seasoning necessary and much easier to clean! I have also seen a cast iron griddle rust badly and require lots of love to get it re-seasoned good enough to use again 😀
