Who is Scott?
I've been in sports performance, coaching and testing for over 30 years. Yep, before the internet! My journey has involved some wonderful adventures as both a performer and a coach. As a sports scientist I have never stood still and always pushed boundaries and limits. The rewards of this have seen me work with multiple national champions and internationalists. My intense curiosity though for fitness and performance gains has made huge impacts on the life’s of what folks may call - the everyday athlete. I aim to use KZbin to share my knowledge of how to both improve your physical fitness and your mindset. How you train harder or even train less to make more progress! I will share with you how you can improve your mindset and apply simple daily routines to check your progress. I want to also use the channel to have fun! So, although I can be a geek for science at times, my ENFP personality does mean you need to expect the unexpected at times. 😂

I love training and I also love how it makes me feel that's basically why I do it and have done it all my life. Your zone 2 coaching has taught me how to temper and control my natural over exuberance on a bike. My zone 2 has now risen to the level of my previous zone 3 after 5/6 months ( seems to increase the more you have done it slow at the start but now more linear as the w/o intensity rises ) (I started oct) The months of disciplined training and watching your videos really work and I feel so good. Riding at zone 2 becomes very rewarding as your power output slowly but inexorably rises in response to the workouts. Moving into the spring I want to do a lot of touring around the highlands and throughout Scotland I have an old cross bike I have converted to tour with. It's little heavy and a bit over geared for touring but I know how to stay in zone and why I should stay in zone even if it means jumping off and pushing the old loaded bike up a long 35% if needs be. I have two ultra light carbon bikes which are not getting much use now apart from Zwift sessions and for shortish breakout sessions on local rides I'm so looking forward to riding these this summer. I need more info on the right nutrition for the long hard tour rides I am intending. I'm also Type 1 diabetic. I have found I need very little fast acting insulin now if indeed any until I eat a big meal at the end of the day. it's a complex balancing act during the day and riding on zwift I normally use just gels and carb drinks. For long hard zone 2 touring I don't think this will be enough. I am thinking of better nutrition throughout a long 8 hour day at zone 2 Gels/drinks etc are ok for 1-2 hours but for all day rides I think it will be totally inadequate. What do you think and if not what else could I add apart from bananas or a peanut butter sandwich. Should I be adding protein shakes I'm a veggie and 55 kilos when I was younger and racing i was 65 kilos but I feel good at 55 kilos and think I can perform better even given my increased age but better longer more focussed training. I would heartily recommend your training for anyone who is Type 1 and has close diabetic control and wants to retain the control and the natural warnings of hypo's (bonk). This mechanism is triggered in your brain and to retain throughout life it you must train regularly and with intense efforts. Thx again coach😀😝

I have taken a lie detector test. They are 100 times more difficult than the movies suggest. I would say it is impossible to beat with an experienced interviewer. It was extremely interesting.

So if I understand zone 2 hr correctly then hr in zone 2 can only decrease (from age), it should pretty much stay the same throughout life based on a percentage of max hr, but zone 2 power and speed should be forever increasing if it's being trained. Correct?

Hey Coach, not trying to be a Karen. I love watching your channel, but I've heard you use the Lord's name in vain multiple times. But I'm simply asking you to please stop using the lord's name in vain. It means a lot to me, and I simply do not want to stop watching you. You're an incredible online coach but if you don't stop using the lord's name in vain I'll have no other choice. Thank you so much for your help and have a blessed night.
