The Lucia night vigil, lussevaka, in Swedish is a preparatory holiday, day and night, on the 12th of December, before Lucia on December the 13th the great Swedish holiday held in memory of Saint Lucia (Lucy). This video will describe this preparatory period & some of its traditions, including the role of the baking of the Swedish pastry lussekatter, that are practiced, or at the least used to, as this tradition is pretty much confined to more conservative & traditionalist Swedish circles. I hope you will find this piece of Swedish Christian culture interesting.
