PTSD has become a popular diagnosis (informally and formally) in the world today.
It seems everyone is saying they have PTSD and experience "triggers" and "flashbacks."
But the truth of the matter is that TRUE PTSD and CPTSD as well as childhood trauma is a very clinical and emotional experience that requires a true understanding of how it negatively impacts your life including your relationships.
PTSD and CPTSD as well as other trauma responses can range from mild to severe and can destabilize you for many years.
The trauma responses you have can land you in a series of unhealthy and traumatic relationships that causes you to re-live your trauma every single day through your body, your heart, and mind.
In this video, I clearly define what re-living trauma may look like in your life.

These videos have been very helpful for me acknowledging my trauma but it doesn't make me feel hopeful. I just keep coming to the conclusion I'll never be able to live a normal, freeing, happy life. I'll just be living to heal wounds the rest of my life.

OMG....The Title is made me cry! And YES, reenactments are real. I was just thinking of one in my Childhood. I've experienced it all.

Thank you so much for talking about obsessively trying to reenact or fix situations. I have done that for so long with my mom and when you said that I just realized that I was doing it. Thank you! That really helped me realize to stop doing that! Regarding someone divorcing in a marriage, I always say to try to seek the Lord first together and to see if he can soften people’s hearts and have them come together! 🙏💖💖

You are so welcome! And I agree with this...seek the Lord first. Can't go wrong once you do.

I learned that the key to overcoming is facing like you described. Your soul keeps revisiting because it wants to make peace and conquer that trauma. I used to not be able to drive because I would have flashbacks of a car accident my mom got a DUI with. As a result I would even start driving into oncoming traffic as an adult so I rarely drove. Until one day I went to this psychotherapist session where I was in a meditative trance and revisited the car accident as a child. The next day my entire body hurt, but afterwards I could drive with little to no flashbacks. It was the strangest thing I've ever experienced.

Thank you for the video! I can relate to the topic 100%, suffering from CPTSD. Trying to make changes any positive changes really is draining, as you said. I'm feeling uncomfortable building my identity, because being me has never been safe. It's a totally subconscious behavior until we bring it into our awareness, but being aware of it doesn't help much too. It's the first step but it's not help of its own. I know why I'm feeling uncomfortable doing positive things for myself, still I do feel that way! Its the same thing with reenactments (can relate to it too)... in childhood our nervous system learns a pattern of behaviors and reenact them in adult life, even if they are objectively harmful, because to our nervous system its not harmful, we are only doing the very same things that kept us safe all these years. So even if we recognize it's not beneficial, all our body cares about is being safe because from biological perspective it's better to be uncomfortable but safer than to face threat. So it's really hard, a world when taking care of yourself feels like danger! However, these believes have been programmed into our subconscious by repetition, so with enough repetition we can update the subconscious believes, change them for such that are actually beneficial. I wish luck to all of you on this difficult but rewarding journey!

acceptance doesn’t bring relief 😮‍💨 it’s the reparenting that is going to heal the hurt and loneliness you will continue to experience along with the reliving the trauma like a non stopping loop until you can really learn to trust yourself and a higher power that is in us when we get to that place to really heal from within and biologically we are equipped to so the frustration is finding the key to that door to overcome the trauma

I relive my trauma every day. I should gain a deep understanding of this. And recognize what I've experienced was not cool and it will never happen again. Every day I'm dragging my childhood trauma along through the day. I've found that staying busy helps. Set goals and accomplishments.

This is an immense topic. I think of how I left my baby in the care of my mother as I attended college. But she was an abuser to us, I just hadn’t yet realized the consequences. Therefore then that son was abusive to my daughter. The effects have decimated my life, my family. It’s very sad. I have such regrets.

I have obsessive ruminations of all the negative comments and conversations with my older sister over the decades. The sarcastic comments, the negative putdowns, the denigration of my life choices, etc etc. I don't know why these occur almost daily. I have had no contact for years and yet these thoughts remain. If she passes away and I find out online through an obituary, i don't know if that would ever provide closure and make the thoughts stop.

I am sorry. It sounds like some minor unresolved "trauma" that continues to haunt you. This experience can also be called cognitive distortions-- which are skewed or negative ways we can see things that are difficult to overcome. The thoughts could be mood-dependent (happens when you are down in mood) or obsessive-compulsive such as in OCD. This might be something to speak with a therapist about. 🙂 Take care

I have been diagnosed with OCD as of 20 years ago so I think perhaps this is a sign of symptoms flaring up again with these thoughts coming daily for long periods or often enough to generate strong internal responses. Your thoughts Tamara?@@TherapistTamaraHill
