When he's been called as a Human Whisper,the time does him complete justice. Have attended a couple of his workshops on Compassionate Enquiry and it's beautiful. Love his authenticity...Would love to meet and connect with him in person some day. And his book,The Myth of Normal, is just amazing,insightful and brilliant.

I agree with Gabor's take on affairs. It is the most unloving thing a person can do to another they "supposedly" love, because it cheapens and squanders anything built between two people. If something is important you build into it, you invest in it, you look after it, you value it and you don't squander it. Having an affair is NEVER a mistake. The only mistake the cheater feels is that he/she got caught out having the affair, not that he or she threw away something so important and valuable.

Thanks Lulu. Very rare to read this kind of take. I have found it very hard to shake off thinking it was my fault. How could another get so much pleasure from causing another such enduring pain?

@@jeffolson2276 I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you. I sincerely hope you are okay now? I think it is common to feel like one is at fault because that feels easier to digest than accepting that someone who loved you could possibly on purpose inflict such a betrayal wound. They could have spoken to you before cheating and told you what was going on for them, and that would have offered both of you an opportunity to build greater intimacy in the relationship by trying to find a solution together. But most do not. Because typically cheaters are selfish, that is why they cheat because what is more important to them is THEIR relief and the assumption that there is nothing they can do that will make you, the partner walk away even if deep hurt and betrayal has happened. That is terrifically selfish and cruel. What cheaters are actually telling their partners is that they have disqualified themselves from deserving your love and being in your life. This is why I find it baffling why some people give cheaters a second chance, all they are doing is teaching the cheater that they can do it again cause they don't value themselves enough to walk away from the cheating partner's betrayal and disrespect....rest assure they will cheat again and next time they will become smarter at not being found out. Rarely will there be a case where a person will cheat once, get caught and never do it again. It does happen but that is not the norm.

My affair was one of the best things I did for myself!! I was in an abusive marriage with someone who only wanted me around to take his anger out on. At 24yrs of age, I felt trapped and my life over. When I bumped into a childhood friend who had grown up and who had always loved me, he gave me the care n boost I needed. I left my ex a few months later.

I truly believe in this as part of my own experiences.Suppressed emotions are always ignored and don't get attention and focus it needs.The comparison he made of emotional balance and immunity makes completely sense to me. Thanks to Dr.gabor mate for bringing about this topic here.

Anger saved me to let go of my marriage & actually probably force him out of the closet @ 65. I hope he has found peace. For me internal growth is my peace Ty gentleman 👍🏻

It's never too late. Dr Gabor Mate's book "When the Body Says No" writes about the 7 A's of healing at the end of the book. You can also find a summary of this online. I highly recommend looking into this further.

Haven't repression and suppression always been with us? I agree with mind body being one entity but as disease and chronic conditions grow, the reality is that it's more about the acceptance of our respective circumstances that eases stress. When we constantly are wanting more than we have and are, and bombarded with the possibility, we are always in battle. Maybe we're simply in the throes of a great change and absolute chaos where very few will escape without deep suffering. Genetic shifts are at minimum awkward, and worst like shredding skin. All this is not to say a person shouldn't resist unjust situations, but accept life as it is within the resistance.

"Falling in love" is a total misapprehension of the word love to begin with. The good and quite addictive feelings are what bring people together and enmesh them well enough to tolerate one another's issues. Without those memories of over the top feelings who would volunteer to enter the mess of coupleship? Love is born of the first hand knowledge of it; having it oneself, we can't help but wish it for others. Having it oneself, we can't help but give it away knowing it is always refreshing the well.

I have done a practitioners course by Brandon Bays called the Journey. She is the original on emotional enquirey and bringing this to the western world. Her teachings have been built on healing herself from a basket ball tumor in the stomach. The support you get is second to none. Read her book the Journey.

This makes sense but also fills me with fear because I have these traits. Makes me want to throw in the towel. Makes me angry. What is healthy anger? I've never seen it in anyone. I feel very sad after listening to this
@movingbreath
@movingbreath 9 ай бұрын
For me, healthy anger means 1) acknowledging the feeling of anger inside of me when I feel angry, rather than suppressing it or labelling it as wrong/bad, 2) setting boundaries, 3) standing up for myself when boundaries are crossed, 4) finding a healthy outlet for anger and other strong emotions. This could be writing it down, meditating on it, making music, dancing or even kickboxing!

Healthy anger is accepting, acknowledging and finding a healthy outlet like going for a jog, or brisk walk, or other exercise...and most importantly, I remind myself my anger does not make me bad.

First, I am MS person, i am not agree, with reason of suppression. I have lived my life with full freedom still i have MS. So cancer and autoimmune disease or most of the disease progression was there in West countries.... after following west lifestyle we are having all the diseases started coming here... so whatever suppression started after that , we never heard old generations in that .... don't try to show india has problem with because of ppl suppression etc. Go to Muslim communities how much women and children has to suffer.. so it's not link with it.
