If anyone followed the steps in the video and still can't get PHP 8 to run on WAMP, note the following not mentioned in this video: - Wamp Version 3.2.3 is the only version that supports PHP 8. - Right click on the Wamp icon in your tray, and select "About". Click on the "What's New" tab. --- At the very top, you should see this information: ===> Changelog ===> Wampserver 3.2.3 ===> Support for PHP 8 -- If you do not see these words, you do not have a compatible version of Wamp. -- NOTE: Wamp actually states in their documentation that you can't really "upgrade". They recommend you basically go to their website and grab the latest version and reinstall. Annoying, for sure. If you need to upgrade your version of WAMP, I would recommend creating a new folder, much like you would do with different versions of PHP. Name it "wamp_3.2.3" (or whatever the latest version is, when you're reading this note in the future) The other big thing to mention, when you Right-Click on the Wamp icon in your tray, you may have noticed that your interface is different that the one in the video. You can't just go to PHP > {version}, because that option, and that menu hierarchy has changed. - Right Click the icon - Select Tools > Change PHP CLI Version > {version} Now, I'm personally stuck in a rut, because my PHP CLI Version SAYS 8.0, but my webserver front page still says PHP 7.3. I have also tried the additional troubleshooting mentioned in this forum: forum.wampserver.com/read.php?2,159568 But with no luck. I would recommend that the youtuber stop replying with "if you followed the steps, it should work" because technology and software changes all the time. Things get updated and new steps need to be taken to fix issues that occur after documentation has been written. I'll update this post if I find an fix for the CLI not updating and post it here. EDIT: I found an "addon" install for PHP 8.0.7, that can only be installed on Wamp 3.2.5... which I can't find anywhere. Still no luck.

@PixiiBomb it's probably the most outdated call but may be helpful someone next in the line ...yeah you right about "..follow the steps" attitude and "technologies are updated", however provided steps are correct. Even thought in some case like this it's missing some tweaks. So for this given case the missing part is modifying configuration of wampmanager.ini file. The WAMP version poster used in tutorial had probably some autodetect scan of php version folders under /bin. In later WAMP versions releases it's hardcoded at c:/wamp(64)/wampmanager.ini file. The update is straight forward. Just follow the pattern directives for one of existing php version on your machine... and replicate it switching the place holder of php version with 8.x.x. Not a rocket science... and afterwards works like a charm.

Command prompt will be different that WAMP. Check phpinfo() for correctly used PHP version.

@@Myonlineedudotcom it appears your video was an overcomplicated solution. once I restored everything to it's basic setting, I just downloaded the official wamp updater which did things in a 3-step wizard. The Apache version was 2.4.3

@@Myonlineedudotcom Well it works, but I get this msg each time : "Method ReflectionParameter::getClass() is deprecated" I have phpMyAdmin versions 4.9.2 and 5.1.0 installed, but Wampserver takes only the first one. If I change the version number in wampmanager.ini, it resets it to 4.9.2 when I re-start wampmanager
