I just serviced a 9020; it had bad screen burn-in and liquid damage as well to the LCD panel. Customer had a budget for the repair so I opted to replace the 23" LG 1080P panel with the more common and less expensive 23" Samsung 1080P panel from the 9030. I wasn't aware they had different inverter connections from the photos, tho, but the solution for fitment was simple: disassembled old panel, removed LED array, then disassembled new panel and swapped LED arrays. It helps a lot to lift the entire reflector, diffuser, polarizer sandwich up and out all at once and keep them together, then use a flat tool like a spudger to aid with peeling the adhesive holding the array to the frame. Now I have a Samsung panel (same LVDS connector) being driven by an LG backlight driver, and customer is quite satisfied with the result. *Pro-tip: Wear gloves while handling the LCD panel and diffuser/polarizer layers to prevent fingerprints, and use clean (preferably new) microfiber cloths to rest the components on, since the film will generate a lot of static and attract any nearby lint and/or hair. Just thought I'd offer this solution if anyone needs it. It looks complicated but it's really easy: in total there are 12x M4 screws, 6 of which are silver and hold the VESA mount to the chassis, 4 are silver and hold the stand to the VESA mount, and two are black and secure the VESA mount to the HDD cage: all the other screws are identical M3, with the exception of the four smooth screws for the bottom of the chassis, the two screws for the webcam (if equipped), the four spacer screws for the speakers and the two screws for the PSU fan. Keep track of those and your cable management and it's waaay simpler than it looks. The LG panel was harder to find in good condition and was selling consistently for over $100 before shipping and taxes, whereas the Samsung panel was $60 shipped ($39.99) and didn't have so much as a scratch. I also went through and did preventative maintenance items while I had it apart (thermal compound...this one had an i7 4770S in it, as well as thorough board/fan cleaning and CMOS battery replacement). The motherboard is located to the right of the VESA mount under the metal heat shield. The CMOS battery (standard CR2032) is located in the top right corner, requiring removal of the shield. If you just wanted to upgrade the RAM, tho, the two laptop DIMM banks are located below the metal access hatch toward the bottom right of the shield. The CPU is socketed and appears to be a standard desktop socket, but any servicing or upgrades of the CPU will require full removal of the shield. Just make sure all three keys align when you're re-attaching it (top, bottom and right side), otherwise you're going to have a bad time.

How difficult was it to replace the LCD screen? My soon broke one and I would love to replace it.

@@iphrealestate8661 IMO, not that difficult. Getting the housing apart took glancing at a teardown guide as to not mar or damage the finish, otherwise no more complicated than servicing a laptop panel. Then again, I have ASD and was a master tech for a repair franchise for 5 years. I think it's easy, but a lot of folks may not think so. Really it's up to you. Definitely take pictures as you go if you're unfamiliar. Thankfully most of the screws are the same, so Dell gets repairability points there, but like I mentioned the panels are different between models, so you might have to pay more for an exact drop-in replacement, or if you're really careful and up to it, you can attempt an LCD reframe like I did where you replace only the panel while retaining the backlight and diffuser layers. Since the one I worked on was a liquid spill, I had to transplant the diffusers as well, but if you only have a cracked panel, only that would need replacing, technically.

I have a 9010 A-I-O, but it will not boot my SSD. Is there a secret to make this happen? This is not my first HD replacement. The SSD will bot in another machine, but will not boot in the a-i-o. Any thought or help.
