Do not upgrade to sonoma.. Apple just f-ed up with an update to 14.1 to 14.1.1. It made my mac usesless.. Would not connect to the internet..@@paigeme886

I’ve done this on my 2014 mac mini and did the post-install patch. My wifi icon have an “!” On it. IN network it shows wifi as connected. But on the top bar it shows “!” On the wifi. What can i do to get wifi to work?

I don' know about MBP but for sure, this works on IMACs. I've installed 5 IMAC's with success. Instead of running on the slow IMAC hard drives, I cloned the original OS to external SSD. Boot off it and install Opencore's Sonoma. Now all IMACs which are about 8 to 10 years old run fast and can take advantage of all latest apps.

Of course, those spinning drives are too slow for newer OS. Moreover, there might be only a very few users left who couldn't upgrade their spinning disks to HDD for boot drive. Hence, we assume that you've already upgraded to an SSD.

@@difansaputraaafter booting up to apple logo, tap and hold shift. try to open it on safe mode, it works for me. in the login password page, if you successfully enter safe mode, on the up right corner there will be red text “(safe mode)/(safe boot) after u login in safe mode, you can finish the post instalation to get your graphics accelerator, wifi, bluetooth and other. if u confuse, just search the video keyword “booting macbook on safe mode”

Hello sir, i am using ventura on a mbp 2012. I want to upgrade to sonoma but i hesitate between a fresh install and an upgrade. What do you recommend? What about the amount of space use after a fresh install compared to an upgrade? Will they be the same or the upgrade will use more space?

The upgrade will retain your files and apps, whereas a clean install will wipe everything out. In both the cases, the OS size would be same, just download size may differ.
