That's the kind of pressed hair I grew up getting those hard pressings with the pressing grease/oil. Im trying to find somebody who knows how to do it & can get all my Knicks and crannies the way my og hairstylist use to do. It was so straight and silky but it wasn't light it was a good thick press.

Can I make a suggestion that may help you... Instead of blow drying your hair and then using the hot comb later, let your hair air dry completely, then use the hot comb method. Let me know if this works for you 😊

I like your filter. I use the same technique. Only I like to have my hair already straightened and then I set it afterwards to give it more bounce and volume.

You can buy a marcel oven at Sally’s beauty supply and for go an actual oven😊 also make sure you get a really good blowdryer comb combo and get right at the new growth and make sure you have good tension on the section of hair as you blow dry, I love to use Mizani Rose H2O when I blow dry😃 Your hair is amazing luv!

I never did like the smell of the stinky greasy hot comb. I prefer the flat iron. Funny thing is I don't straighten my hair anymore. I just add some curling cream on it and go. At this stage in my life it doesn't matter I'm 62 years old lol😄

You took me back but my mom used Glossitna or apex hair gloss and air drying cause a blow dryer and a hot comb is too much heat . But liked your video this is a lost art

My grandma used to have me sit outside in the sun to dry my hair prior to using the hot comb. I never had heat damage.

I don’t know if you would be willing to try, but if you could do an audio tutorial on how to braid hair that would be good. I am black but I am also blind and that is not a good combination when you want to take care of your own hair the natural way.

Use low heat setting. Use a protective heat spray. Use coconut oil or hot comb pressing oil beforehand. Keep your hair moisturized as much as possible. Don't use hotcombs daily, just once in a blue moon. Hope this helps! 👍❤

Oh my! 😱 I finally relaxed my hair since high school, little over 10 years ago! It took a lot of thinking and patience but turned out well! 😊 Maybe soak the hotcomb in hot water and use a scrubber. (Soap pad like Brillo or SOS pad). Or a light degreaser spray that removes grease and gunk. Let it air dry. Hope this helps! ❤

I hot comb my hair in the kitchen near the stove like my mom did when I was a kid. I just open the kitchen window for ventilation and use a full length mirror. Works like a charm.

@@tonettechinaturale5045 That was the same as me to my mum used to do my hair in the kitchen and I continued the tradition when I was of age, using a full size mirror. I still have all those hot combs and curling irons today, my mother brought them from JA (Jamaica to the UK) she was a qualified hairdresser back in the days (50s).

I use mainly Pantene Smooth & Sleek conditioner. I sometimes like to try other conditioners. I currently use HASK Protein & Keratin conditioner. I also use Tresemme blow dry protective spray and Pantene detangler mist. Thanks for watching! ⚘

I’ve gone down a thread of video like this cuz no one in my family know how do do my nieces hair right accept kinda my mom lmao. Everyone in my family white lol accept my niece and she don’t got no mom or dad to do it for her so I’ve taken it upon myself to learn 😂. No, you don't have to use DAX Pomade specifically. You can use another brand that works for you. I also use "Ultra Sheen Creme Satin Press". It works the best, used it in childhood too. It's in a yellow jar. I bought it after this video was made. Thanks for watching!⚘

Good question. A leave-in conditioner would be great beforehand to use. I'd also recommend a good quality hotcomb pressing oil/creme to help prevent further burn or damage on the hair. Hope this helps! ❤

I got one of these in some antiques I acquired and had no idea what it was for. I wonder if it can b used of caucasian hair or can a hot comb only b used on african hair. can somebody please tell me. cuz I would love to b able to refurbish it and use it as long as it wont ruin my hair. thx u

Good question! I'm sure a hot comb can be used on Caucasian/White hair. I'd say use low heat, since modern hair straighteners heat settings are of course different than how a hotcomb is heated. Thanks for watching! ❤

@@reneaslyfe If you mean like the glass top flat electric stoves, I wouldn’t recommend it. I was told my cast iron cookware would damage and cause bubbling on a stove like the one you have. Hot combs seem like they might cause a similar effect. Alternatively there are electric hot combs. Those might be a better option for you.

The only heat protectant anyone has ever used on me was right after I shampoo and it's wet and I don't think that would work oh, the hair is wet and the heat protecting is liquid. So do you use oil and wet heat protectant , is that what causes buildup?

@@sable7114 hey boo yes it's advised u use a pressing oil and test the combbon a paper towel to see if it's brown . if its too brown wait until it cools until it's faint color on papeer towl and proceed

Do you have any advice on using this for short hair? I am trying to comb my hair straight on the top of my head but the ends keep turning upwards and I can't get them down flat.

Hm..it may be happening because the hair itself is short. It's a bit hard to tell without seeing your texture, style, etc. Maybe try using a steady hand as you go down the hair.... be sure to not "flick" the wrist at the end of the hair. Hope this helps! 👍

All I use is the hot comb, period. Stay away with those flat iron's. But...you should take a class on pressing 101. The hair is not moving after all that heat come on sweetie, just saying. So good luck.

@@lady071078 I get my hair pressed once a month. And believe me it's at 18 inches from the crown to end. I just went yesterday every month it gets longer, I'm not sure what to do with it it has grown so long.
