I think either would be fine, but I'd probably push the button a second before making contact.

First off, get that "I hope I don't have to use it" mindset out of your head. That's a victim statement. Don't be a victim. And push the button first, if you wait he'll just pull away or step back. If he grabs you just put it to his neck or anywhere that has exposed skin, or a thin layer of clothing like a t shirt area. It won't work on a thick jacket, or leather. Bullets work, but I'm assuming you don't want to carry a gun. And you mentioned that you purchased this for safety? This isn't going to make you "safe", only safer, if you use it right. This product will not drop an attacker to his knees as many products claim. At best, it'll just make him jump back or wince at a moment of pain. Be prepared to punch bite and kick. Then run. The fact that people feel like they MUST have a way to protect themselves is incredibly sad, but i understand why it's important. Silly to say, but I want EVERYONE to feel safe without the aid of self defense weapons. But alas, that "victim mindset" of mine has made me into a whimpering doormat I suppose. Oh, also, I heard what they said in the video. You don't need to explain how to use a stun gun. I think everyone who watched has a pretty alright understanding about all that.

I have multiple force multipliers that are deployed in succession. 1) Pepper spray for range 2) My keys are on a chain which I have trained to use as a whip/chain sickle for medium range pain. 3) A knife which is deployed in the opposite hand simultaneously as the keys. 4) A stun gun for anyone who is still dumb enough to continue at which point I will incapacitate them & strike with the knife. 5) A gun in which 1-4 fails to deter the enemy I will then pull from an undisclosed & undercover location & empty the clip. Making sure to land 2 in the chest & 1 in the head at minimum. Beginning the firing at the center & angling upwards towards the head. Reserve shot pattern is for the ankles, knees, then gunshot, chest, then head as they fall. Leave no one alive if they try to take your life. A living enemy will testify against you. Your best legal defense is to be the sole survivor - especially if you truly fear for your life. Finally always carry a card with your legal rights on it & a lawyers phone number. This tells you EXACTLY what to say after an altercation. After you speak. Remain silent. Even before Miranda rights. Even if you're innocent. DO NOT TALK TO POLICE. EVER.

I just bought an s-2000 SF it seems like it doesn't last long at all maybe 5 or 6 short burst I was told to try the light that it should last about 15 minutes I have registered it and I guess I can send it back but it is brand new and I was just wondering how long it is supposed to last because if you have three or four attackers you're going to need more than that length of battery life thanks for your response

I just bought this Sun Gun and charged it for 12 hrs as directed. The Stun seems to work (I haven't tried it on anyone), the light is fantastic, but the Alarm is barely there-it just clicks. Any suggestions? I need this as I am a senior woman who travels out of state often.

I have a great suggestion. Buy pepper spray. The attacker will just slap the stun gun right out of your hands and bear you up. Happens all the time. At least with pepper spray you can spray him from a distance without having to make contact with him.

This toy doesn't hurt more than a pinch... and if the enemy is angry it's worse... if he brings a knife and you want to use the electric toy, you'd better consider yourself dead... Use a 9mm Caliber and solve the security issues ...

Hi, this video is a very light intro to the use of stun guns but I had a specific question in mind, mainly because I never used any before. Depending on the answer, I will adapt its use accordingly. When we are stunning the attacker for example in the belly/shoulder, what happens if he grabs you with his hand/arm? Will you be also receive the stun like him? Hopefully it came with directions if it didn't go ahead and pull the trigger for a half a second. Make sure that you don't touch the connectors that the spark runs through after it's been used because that still can hold a little charge in it.

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!! It shocked me when I was just holding it and I was not pressing the red taser button. My husband purchased a SABRE S 1009 for me for when I have to go out in the middle of the night to take our two puppies outside (we don't have a fenced yard). I take it out with me, turn it on and wait for the dogs. A couple of months ago I went to turn it on and it did not come on.....the little light above the on switch did not come on, nor did the flashlight come on....I thought it just needed to be charged. I thought I turned it of....I'm not 100% certain however but when I came back inside and went to set it down, it shocked my hand. It hurt pretty bad and just by an automatic reaction, I threw the stun gun. My hand was numb for the next 10 minutes or so. I have contacted the company several times over the past couple of months and they have not responded. I was hoping for a replacement and for an answer as to how I could have been shocked just holding the handle (I never pushed the red button activating the taser) so there are two things wrong with this scenario. Even if I were pushing the red button activating the taser, it should have never shocked me just holding it and....it should never have shocked me just holding it, not pushing the red taser button. I'm afraid to even touch the stun gun at all anymore. Now I record it when I have to move it just in case it does it again. I don't want to go through that again but I want it to be documented if it were to happen again since the company is not getting back with me. I think it is pretty bad if a company does not stand behind the products they make / sell and refuses to get back to a customer. What happened to me is pretty dangerous. I did not buy this to personally get shocked out of the blue. I never had any intentions on finding out what this feels like and unfortunately I did. It also scared our dogs when I yelled from the pain and threw the stun gun. Just BEWARE since I have no idea how this happened and if you have a problem with SABRE products, this company probably is not going to respond back to you. I was patient for the first two month trying to contact them (I would call or email and wait a couple of weeks) but I have lost my patience and am now doing what ever I can to let people know about my experience and they can decide what they want to do.

I have never had any issues with their products. You have to press the button and you'll see the Sparks. Otherwise it's not going to shock you. Although if you did push the button and you saw the Sparks, if you touch it within a second after you saw the Sparks, it can give you a little shock. And that's with any stun guns or tasers. So it's just a reminder never touch the tip where the Sparks make contact.

I cannot buy stun gun in my country, its illegal. I have a little pepper spray but I never carry it because its dangerous too it may pepper spray to myself by accident. I just carry a portable baton that I can put it in my pocket. Its extendable. I didn't get to use it, I hope I won't use it, I won't get into troubles. I have two emergency alarms in my pocket as well.

Ladies if you have to make contact with a bad guy to use these stun guns,your to close and it will be easily swatted or kicked away! Spend more money and purchase a dart n wire fired stun gun ! But even that may not pierce thick clothing, I’d go for a large pepper spray like bear spray to the face from ten feet or more every time!
