How to use Android Phone USB Tethering

Top video.. Straight to the point. Worked a treat. Only thing I will say is... sometimes when Android gets updated, the Menu's and Sub-Menu's change place and the option for tethering might be in a different place. If in doubt, just use the search option and type 'Tethering'.

Thanks mate, this worked. Normally I would not bother with USB tethering since I only have 1.5gb allowance but since I swtiched to 3 plan with unlimited data, I wanted to know how. Also the good thing for me is 3 allows tethering so that is great. Now, if I am on a train, or someone without internet access, I can use my phone now. Thanks.

maybe the cable type. use data transfer cable. if you use charging only cable type then it's not possible

FYI , my phone will not allow wifi and tethering to be turned on together. You can only use your data minutes from your phone, not your router.

Great video - thanks. I have used wifi tethering and it has worked well. I have a 1G data plan so it is limited. However, when I tried this (for the first time), I noticed that several of my apps began updating - still not sure why that was. Then, I realized that I had used almost 200mb of data in less than 5 minutes. I normally use much less than that in a month. I'm not real sure what happened but it may be that I have my apps set to update when I'm charging??? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks again. Ron

Hi Ron, I bet it is the fact that it is charging that prompts the apps to update. I thought I had mine set to only update on WiFi but I can't fully remember without looking into it. It might be worth double checking your settings to see if you have an option to only update using WiFi. Thanks Vince

Hi Ron, make sure that the automatic OS updation of your PC/ laptop is deactivated from your settings. Otherwise, your data would be drained off in a few hours! There are several step by step instruction videos available on KZbin to shut down automatic updating options. 😊

Depending what your phone Is using, if you don't want to use your sim data turn off mobile data and this method will still works.

Doesn't work! I did everything and it says not connected on laptop. It asked what I want to do with the device connected. The usb tethering option isn't there on the laptop. It only has 4 picks. Charging phone, media, file sharing, or video. Nothing on usb.
