Assuming your cable is good and the phone is in "File Transfer" for the USB, and your PC sees the phone but won't do file transfer properly, put your phone in AIRPLANE MODE. Seems on Samsung phones the other connection protocols interfere with proper MTP file transfer. Putting your phone in Airplane Mode seems to help with this.

Did everything in this, set it to transfer files as default option when plugging in USB, and still it only charges the phone. It's a Samsung S8

Hi Fringe. I was facing exactly the same issue. I did a number of configurations on PC -- manually installing Snapdragon drivers, installing ADB drivers, Suite for this particular phone and yet nothing seemed to work. This problem resolved by itself when I selected PTP photo transfer on phone when plugged rather than File Transfer with USB options when I plugged it into the PC. Try doing the same thing and see if your problem resolves. Regards

hi if its of use to anybody . i was in the same situation . my phone charged okay but never showed up on my computer when i wanted to transfer files . . i did everything mentioned below but nothing was happened . but once i did a complete shut down of my phone and restarted it worked okay and phone showed up on my computer . like everybody i am hooked on tic tok and whatsapp . the amount of files saved behind the scenes build up on your phone and slow it down . but after making the changes below it is important to shut down and restart your phone .

**=** It can be the USB cable are the cause, it exist cable of micro USB that only function to charge the device, and you need to buy a new one that can also transmit data.

2:30 "... you will find this particular..." What you said was a bit unclear. I did not see "Select USB configuration". I did see "Default USB configuration". Tapping that, I changed mine to "File transfer". I could then see my phone in the "Devices and drives" section of my PC, as I used to be able to. Turning "USB debugging" off caused it to disappear but, without any extra steps, turning "USB debugging" back on caused my phone to reappear. I wish that was not necessary.

For Oppo Find X3 Pro: go to Settings - About device - Version - Version No. Press Version No. 7 times. (you'll get a prompt if you haven't pressed seven times. Then, go back and reconnect your cable and a timy icon line will show. Press on it and you'll find options - Charging only or transfer files. Press on transfer files. I hope this helps.

Same here I found USB debugging no problem No USB security setting I keep scrolling down in developer options and came across ( Default USB configurations ) clicked on it and selected( file transfer) and it worked !! My phone was preset to block file sharing ??

After becoming 'a developer' I had to search for 'developer options'. Then clicked 'USB debugging'. Then it automatically connected to my laptop giving my connection options on a little window in the left hand bottom corner. I followed the options and it connected!! Hooray!!

My issue was resolved by changing the USB connector. The charging connector given by One+ for earphone was not working for USB transfer. Laptop was only charging the phone but couldn't do transfer and even couldn't detect it. Try connecting with different phone to check if laptop is giving issue or phone or even cable

I have a problem that I can’t connect my MI 8 to my PC, and yes, the cable has nothing to do with it, other devices are connected via the same cables (yes, I bought a lot of original ones),but not my MI 8, I even recently sent it in for repair to replace the type C port and the technician on the PC was able to immediately connect it without any problems, on my PC I even changed the OS, tried it on windows 10, 11 Linux Ubuntu and nobara linux

New android versions - please check the " default usb configuration" Set it to " file transfer/ android auto Below that you may find the option " select usb configuration" - set it as MTP- media transfer protocol. Hopefully that will work. Thank you

Amazing! I didn't know this was an issue or an option until we needed to do it for a different phone. Thanks so much! Unfortunately the sub menu would not properly load and would just pop up and close before letting you do anything.
