Great video for essential mechanic! I think it's important to note for beginner Lucarios that Charge Storage Cancelling into anything besides Upsmash or a jump attack is much more difficult. If you don't tap AND release the shield button within 3 frames you end up shielding and getting 11 extra frames of recovery from shield drop before you can side B, Fsmash, or tilt. Some of your examples of aura sphere charge into force palm grab are clean and hard to react to, but some had a shield before the force palm which good players are more likely to punish or react to.

A simple and effective tactic I like to use is a retreating b reverse aura sphere. When I have a fully charged aura sphere, I'll run or jump away from my opponent then b reverse fire the aura sphere behind me. It catches people off guard because seeing an opponent retreat and turn their back prompts them to focus on their offensive options and forget the threat that a high % Lucario poses.

Just a tip, when landing with aura sphere you can act directly out of it by inputing jump right before landing. This will leave you in the neutral animation. In this case its faster than shielding out of aura sphere. Edit: found the vid of who discovered it kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5vVhJ-rf82Cj8k

Great vid dude. I have a quick question: when charge cancelling, do the shield/offensive inputs have to be simulatenous (i.e press shield and at the same time do an up smash)

not_EXE _ Pretty much. The main thing is you need to input and release the shield button within 3 frames or else you’ll actually shield and have to wait 11 frames for your shield to go away before you can use your smash. From what I’ve heard, the timing is less strict for upsmash and any aerial (no shield needed for aerials) but any other attack the timing is WAAAY stricter.

That means you're doing a turnaround-b, not a b-reverse. Input special BEFORE you input the direction to get a b-reverse.

It’s very difficult, and Lucario’s aura sphere has been needed since this video was made. Aura sphere canceling is still possible, but definitely a bit harder as his aura sphere charge pushes opponents out faster
