AA is super effective for acne (for me). However, I got a lot of redness and sensitivity that became increasingly worse over a few months, so I stopped. As it turns out, my skin barrier is on the weak side and I’m prone to over hydration. So I eliminated all HA from my routine, and made sure not to layer hydrating products. Now I can tolerate azelaic acid, and other actives, much better.

Wow. I have never heard of over hydration. That is very interesting.
@MariyaMagija

@@awkwardgenxer1023 From what I understand, it’s not very common, unless you layer tons of products. For me though, it doesn’t take much at all to oversaturate my skin. Essentially, hydrating products start doing the opposite of what they need to do - the skin gets red, tingly, dry, parched-looking, and eventually begins to come off in huge flakes at an alarming rate.

I have been using the FT azelaic acid for almost a year and I really liked it. Last week I received the Dermatica 20% azelaic acid cream, with ceramides, fatty acids, cholesterol, vitamin A and squalane, all in an incredibly light, easily absorbed cream. I'm in love.🥰

I have sensitive skin and did what u said not to do 😂I jumped right into a 20% azelaic acid cream but I didn’t experience any tingling or irritation. Within a month my skin was clear! but of course with hormonal acne breakouts happen no matter what however I’m really happy with the progress and results but I switched to 10% simply because I like the formula better and with this I have experienced slight tingling that goes away in seconds after applying. I will never be without this acid in my skincare routine! and I naturally kept it in the fridge because it feels soothing Great video! 👍

I've just started using TO 10% Azelaic acid in my night routine. I think I have rosacea although it's very minimum for now. Fortunately, I experienced no irritation, although the first morning It looked like my cheek and the little veins were redder than the day before, and even appeared to have a couple of white heads. After that all good, I'd even say it looks less red, but it's too early to tell. I use a small amount right after I cleanse and before my retinol in squalane.

Man…I thought I LOVED AA. I Thought my skin loved it, cause I never had any issues after I put it on, or so I thought. For months my skin was getting soooo sensitive, and I was getting what I thought was heat rashes, almost everytime I was in the sun. I assumed it was from over exfoliating or from my retinol, so I kept stopping those. At one point I stopped everything for a month or 2, when I thought I could add stuff back in I started with a small amount of AA…….uh that first day, I went into the sun for about 10 min, came in side and my face was on fire and I looked like a tomato. It was then that I realized that entire time I was having issues before was cause I kept using AA…cause “my skin liked it” UGH!!! Zero issues now that I’ve totally stopped using it I’ve totally streamlined my skincare routine and and am keeping it simple. Trying new things just doesn’t seem worth it anymore, theres just too many products. My face and wallet were unhappy lol! Hydration, moisturizer, retinol and every once in a while exfoliating. I think people should be very careful with things like this…too many people hear it’s gentle and use it, and don’t realize they may be damaging their skin.

Thank you for this! I’ve been considering Dr Sam’s Brightly serum for melasma/hyperpigmentation, but was concerned about the low % of vitamin C. I’m in Australia and C is important both as an antioxidant due to the sun here and also for the way that it supports SPF. Now that I know AA will play nicely with other actives I’ll try it alongside side my C15 booster from Paula’s Choice. Thanks again

I use a 20% azelaic acid cream twice a day and it changed my skin so much to the better. I have combination/oily skin, no akne, but rosazea stage 2. I started once a day in the morning and after two month I began using it in the evening too. Normally my skin is very sensitive, but with azelaic acid I had no side effects whatsoever. Maybe after some time I'll change to a lower concentration for maintenance.

I’m not sure how much to use of the Facetheory Lumizela A10. The package directions say to use a few drops but it comes in a pump format. Since you’re familiar with this particular azelaic acid product does 1 pump equate to a few drops or a finger tip amount as you indicated in the video? Also is that amount recommended for face AND neck or is an additional finger tip length needed for the neck? Hope my questions make sense lol! Thank you in advance 🙏

I was wondering whether it’ll be fine to use a PHA alongside Azelaic Acid. I have sensitive combination skin which in these colder months tend to be combo-dry. There’s also a possibility I might have Rosacea. So that’s why I’m trying to aim for a more tolerable chemical exfoliant like pha but alot of people never mention it and I’m guessing for my rosacea I can start off with 10% AA? I’m just a little worried about the two paired together. I’ve tried AA before from Naturium’s emulsion but my pores looked huge and clogged when using it. I need some guidance here 😂 Loving your informative videos. They help a lot.

I am not a dermatologist, yet this might help u. Please note that Tretinoin is way more stronger than Azelaic acid. Now u should use one of them and reduce the number of usage to maybe twice a week - depends on how irritate ur skin gets. Try to moisturise ur skin using cicaplast from la roche posay cause It will help ur skin barrier and to calm any irritation.

I have no idea where to place these two in my routine haha… if you have any tips maybe? I just use BP facewash and sunscreen in the morning, and a “normal” facewash and moisturizer at night. Sometimes an exfoliant. Thank you!

Hey what order have u Been using them in? I'm in the same predicament as ive order both a.a and tranexmic acid serum from facttheiry and was wondering if I could use thek both one after the other In the pm and then only use a vitamin c in the am

@@muslimaax Hi! I stopped using them because I think I was using a bit too much at once. I didn’t enjoy the azelaic acid serum because of the consistency. I think that one was a bit too irritating for my face, and I noticed it gave me a lot of redness/flushing the next day, when I would use my other products. Facetheory told me to not use both serums at the same time as it could be irritating too much. I think you could try one first, like the azelaic acid, leave a few days in between, and try it again. See slowly how you like it! When you get more used to the azelaic acid serum, try the tranexamic acid on its own, and see how that goes. So, I wouldn’t use them both in the Pm. I would start with one. It might take some time to get used to the azelaic acid alone. I also was using vitamin C in the morning at that time, and everything combined was too irritating for me/too complicated. Good luck! 🌻

P.s. I dont think they are bad products, I just was using a combination of too many things I think. Sometimes we want things to go faster, and it has the opposite effect ;).

Why do you apply it in the morning and not evening? If it’s got an exfoliating effect to it, would it be better in the evening?

I haven't gotten to azelaic acid, yet, but over time you've definitely convinced me that I need to! I've been working on nailing down my HG basics (moisturizers, etc) and retinoids, exfoliants, and Vitamin C serum first. I think I'm mostly there after....uh... let's say 3 years of learning about my skin and the huge variety of products out there!😆 My next ingredient I reeeeally want to incorporate is bifida ferment lysate -- something potent but gentle -- before moving on to azelaic acid. I'm trying to actually limit myself to only adding/changing one product at a time, but it's so hard sometimes!😆 I love how you talk about skincare being a long journey where we can always plan to up the number/concentration of actives as we age instead of trying to use ALL of them in our 30s!❤️

@@MadAboutSkin thank you so much! I appreciate it! My father had surgery today and thankfully is now in the recovery unit. I feel like some extra self care tonight is in order. I’ve been slacking the past week because of the chaos! If you get a chance, I really do think those products play lovely together and I have found it to be effective so far. Doubling up with the night time vit c with those two products also!

You helped me to get used to The Ordinary’s Azelaic acid that was very harsh on my skin when I first started. But the sandwich technique was the key, and that was an advice that I got from you. Now I was lucky enough and I got a hold of an Azelaic acid from a really good batch 😺😻😺 It doesn’t go grainy or super silicony like products with a lot of dimethacone sometimes do. To store the Azelaic acid in the refrigerator (maybe you even have a skincare fridge) is a very good idea. Some products like vitamin C and retinol benefit from being stored in a dark and cool place. Other products like toners in spray bottles, sheet masks, certain serums and moisturisers... and azelaic acid, gives additional nicer sensory experience with the slightly coldness on the skin. A very nice idea! Lots of love and positivity ✨💗✨💗✨ Always here to show support! ✌️😽💗
