Thank you for this tutorial. I've been wanting some blocking wires for a while, maybe this will help me get a set for Christmas. I can no longer block my own shawls by myself so my son helped me the last time and wires would have made it a lot easier, (it's so much easier to do it yourself rather than to explain how to do it) your step by step directions are fantastic. I hope to see your review of the small Teamoy bag soon, my boys saw your review of the large bag and my projects have a lovely safe place to be when I travel to see my grandbabies. When I heard the cicadas in your video, I thought it was the ones in my area, they are deafening right now. Thank you again for your tips and the video, looking forward to the next one.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and YAY for having the large project bag to keep your items in, they bags are fantastic, how do you like your bag ? The wires are great and make blocking shawls SO much faster and you use less pins too if you have a shawl with points

Blocking sucks.. I've only done it with semi-lacey snowflakes I made last x-mas that also needed to be stiffened up. it was bad enough. But as you can see, it does do wonders to the piece :)

Clare, LOL... your comments about your pants made my day! "I'm not pregnant, it's a food baby"... that is what I'm going to use when people ask me if I'm pregnant, and I'm 57 LOL! I live in my yoga pants, sweatpants, sleep pants LOL. Great video! I just recently purchased blocking boards from Michael's. They also have a small sewing section near the yarn, and I found the T pins and blocking pins there. I've never seen the long pins. I'm going to have to get those. We have had such an incredibly hot and humid summer here, I have not done hardly any crocheting. I love all your tips, and blocking really does make a difference.

Thank you for this detailed informative video. It really shows how much work goes into your beautiful items. I'm still a beginner I'd say. I'm working on my 4th project (all afghans) but I haven't blocked anything yet. I think I'll try it on my In Love with Color afghan granny squares before i sew them together.

I just got my blocking wires today so doing some research on how to use them. I normally use pins but wires look like they will make the job so much easier! Why have I not bought myself a set before this? Got a gorgeous lace shawl to block and I can't wait to see it go from finished to polished!

Clare I have a question. After you've worn the garment for a few times and want to wash it, do you have to block it all over again?

depending on what material it is made out of and how often you wash or long you go without washing you should only have to block every so often.
