Good Morning Claire & Family! I Hope & Pray that you're doing Well and Blessed. Thank you so much for sharing this Tutorial, because I really need it Today. I'm making a Gift for someone and I just discovered that one of the Granny Squares has become undone and I haven't even finished the Afghan yet. 😮 And it's in this same particular area. I used the Magic Circle instead of the chain two circle to start with. I thought I secured it Good but I didn't. This Tutorial will help me so much. Thank you so Much!

In all my 40 years of crocheting, I have never had a finished item to come undone... until I got my grandson. For some crazy reason, he loves to chew on the blankets until he literally chews the yarn apart. Then he pulls the yarn ends and unravels as much as he can. I have repaired 3 so far. I asked his mom to put away the blankets until he's old enough to understand. Meanwhile, I've been very fortunate to still have the needed yarn for repairs in my stash! My repair technique is the same as yours.

Great tips, thanks. I've never had any problems with my tails coming loose - I follow the 'Rule of Three' - works well, my projects survive machine washing and/or drying - plus having pets in the house who think that every blanket/cushion I make is just for them to roll around on, sleep under, claw at, etc. I also suspect that trusting knots in original skeins bought can also result in stuff like this happening; if/when I come across any knots in the yarn I buy, I re-do the knots myself.

Thank you so much for your great tip and yes I NEVER trust those yarn knots haha

We have a granny-square afghan handed down from my in-laws a few decades ago, where the seams are starting to go. I should make time to mend it sometime, as it's been perfect for keeping sleepers warm in our chilly (next to the central air conditioning unit) basement guest room.
@CrochetwithClare6 жыл бұрын
Yes it would be wonderful to save the seams before they unravel completely

Love seeing these types of videos. Nothing like getting hopeless over a broken stitch or something. Wondering how you launder your blanket? It didn't look all fuzzy. Gentle cycle and low heat, tumble dry?
@jenniferahough49836 жыл бұрын
Kathleen Champ I hang out to dry as don't have a tumble dryer. Acrylic yarn doesn't fuzz in a normal wash.
@kathleenchamp37646 жыл бұрын
Jennifer A Shepherd GREAT that's what I thought. Lol I no sooner finished a CAL washed and dried it came out a bit fuzzy. So bummed then realized it read the spiked , though soft, dryer balls..I almost blew a gasket lolol good things it's for cuddling with the critters on the chair. It's not bad AT all just that I didn't realize and remember to remove them from dryer. Taken a back a bit I guess. Thanks for info! Have an AMAZING day... weekend ;-)

I don't understand why crocheters and knitters, don't understand that the tails are the moist important part of the project.
@Defined4hispurpose6 жыл бұрын
Val Kiernan ...hi Val will you explain why that's so? Thanks 😊
@valkiernan83066 жыл бұрын
When you see a beautiful piece that you want to make, you take the time to make sure you have enough yarn and a little extra just in case you run out and can't find another natch for it. You put your heart and soul into this project. then snip your yarn to move on, but you end up cutting it too short and the tail you can't sew or weave in. When this project is done you feel a sense of accomplishment and put it iin the washer and let it dry, or some brands say to wash and dry on it. You take it out of the dryer and seeing it unraveling because your tail was to short, and didn't hold. Trying to save a yard of yarn when making a beautiful project is not the way to go. It doesn't cost you more to leave a longer tail, but will take away your pride when it comes undone. Clare's video is the best and right on as usual. lol
@maggied84686 жыл бұрын
Val Kiernan I totally understand. It's frustrating. Some crocheters ( not this channel ) leave crazy short ends and I cringe, they're either very short or not sown in much or both. The ends can either make or break a valued piece of crochet. I do long weaved in ends also small hidden knots. It takes a good bit of time but it's time we'll spent.
@countrycrochetcorner1066 жыл бұрын
When I first started to 'really crochet' about two years ago; I didn't realize how EASY these ends could come loose, so NOW I always try to leave a long tail....even if it's a scrap blanket
@djm91006 жыл бұрын
As a self taught beginner, you do not realize the importance of long tails and weaving them in. I had to learn the hard way,
