I got this thing precisely because of its compatibility with my DSLR lenses and I got tired of carrying duplicate lenses for my grandpa's old AE-1P when I want to shoot film and digital. This thing has been amazing and I shoot film much more often now!

i’ve have the 500n the shutter, mirror & flash actuate fine when no lens is on, when i put on my EF 50 1.8 the focus motors work on it perfect but the shutter won’t actuate at all, is this a camera fault or lens compatibility problem ?

Such a great video! I got this one from my uncle, loved it! On my third film I tried a recycled kinda film and not even one photo was made.. could the film be defective? Tried to click the camera with no films and shutter is working perfectly.. and since the camera counted 36 photos, don’t think that I inserted the film wrong.. anyway, if you or anyone have something to say about it, I’ll be thankful 🙃

Yes all EF lenses will work on this camera with AF. Limited AF but it works.

All of the film rolls to the other side so you have fresh film ready to shoot after it is finnished spooling.

So is there any way to manually put in your own ISO? E.g if I wanted to have my portra 800 pushed to 1600 for more grain. This isn’t possible? Great video!

I do not own this particular camera but on many cameras you can do this the same way you would set the ISO for non DX coded film. If this doesn't work you can always put a piece of tape or something over the DX-code of the film cassette, this will make the camera think your film is not DX-coded and let you set ISO manually.

Most lenses will be sharp around F8. But any good ef lens will do the trick. Niffy 50 at f4 and up is very sharp. But it doesn't matter so much for this camera a search for sharp EF lenses will help you.

Hey man, I hope you can help me with my question: I bought the Canon Eos 50 and wanted to use it with manual vintage lenses like the Helios 44-2 or Contax Zeiss 50mm 1.7. I adapted those lenses to the EF mount. However, if I attach any of the vintage lenses, the Shutter doesn't work properly. I have to press the trigger a second time so the gate closes. Therefore, it's impossible to properly expose. Electronic lenses work fine. I guess the problem is that the camera can't communicate with the lens. Is that a problem with the EOS 500 as well? On your thumbnail, you use a vintage lens as well, so how do you made it work? Thanks for help!

It's a little bit late, but this only will work in manual mode. You have to select the aperture on the lens and then the shutter speed according to the index of the light meter in the viewfinder until it is in the middle, then you have the right setting and the shutter will fire properly.

At the beginning of the video there's an adapted Olympus lens attached to the camera... How are you able to fire the shutter with it? I tried to adapt a Pentax K and when I use it the camera shuts down when pressing the shutter. Is there a setting for this? Thanks!

Well, the adaptor wasn't connected to the AF system and the camera will fire without a lens attached so it might be the camera is getting an error because it is getting a bad reading off what it thinks is an EF lens. But that is just a guess.

I guess if you only plan on using the automatic functions... But even then, film cameras usually require a lot of tinkering with settings to get a really great shot, which would be impossible to do in your situation.
