Thank you for this video. Very insightful. I do need help with a recurring task. I have a subtask that needs to be completed 16 times in the month, only on weekdays except Wednesdays, for the parent task to close and restart on the following month. How can I set up this recurrence, or should I set it up as 16 individual subtasks?
@ZenPilot6 ай бұрын
Yes, this looks like it will be a case where you'll have 16 subtasks due on the correct days and then have that parent task recur when it's closed. This will bring all the subtasks with it. I'd test this though. It may get a bit confusing when you enter shorter months like February. You may need to just build a task that recurs every day except Wednesday OR just build the workflow out for every month and make them recur once a year.

I use group by due date, how to see month title instead of "overdue" or "Future"?

Great video, very helpful. We use Daily tasks and have set them for recurring, the only issue with that is we need assign different days to different assignees, suggestions?
@ZenPilot9 ай бұрын
Could you provide more context on this? You can't change the assignee when a task recurs, so you'd just want a different task for each assignee. If they themselves only have to do that task once a week, just make it recur once a week. So you may end up with someone having a task recurring on mondays, someone on tuesdays, someone on wednesdays...

I have a list of say 30 different tasks that all can share the same recurring settings. Is there a way to copy recurring settings and apply them to others? OR would you need to manually set that up for each individual task one by one?
@ZenPilot2 ай бұрын
You can save recurring settings in to a template, but other than that, yes you'll need to set recurring settings up one by one.

Is there a way to clear custom fields in recurring tasks, example a meeting every two weeks with differnt invitees
@ZenPilot9 ай бұрын
Yes. If you select "Create new task" and then click "options", you can unselect custom fields and the values will not be brought with the new task.

Nice tutorial! I just have a simple question. What if I want to create new recurring task based on the next starting date, not the due date of previous recurrence? Which means the task should not be created until the next start date comes.
@ZenPilot5 ай бұрын
Tasks can recur when they are marked as done, complete, or can recur on schedule. Recurring on schedule basically means they will recur regardless if your task is complete or not. That's probably your best option, but not going to fully solve your issue here.

what if i want to make some changes in a recurring task only on a specified day e.g. on Friday, the task will remain the same on other days. How will I do that?
@ZenPilot7 ай бұрын
You may just need to create a different task for those Fridays. You could have one task that recurs every day except Friday and then have another task that only recurs on Fridays.

I have a need for adjust the task name or a custom field when the repeat happens. Example: task 1 is from a marketing plan from may, the next from june and so on, but i could not find a way..
@ZenPilot8 ай бұрын
There's not a great way to automate this. I'd probably recommend creating a bunch of tasks for each of these months. You could set them up at the beginning of year or quarter and have all the tasks laid out with the appropriate custom fields.

Can you tell me if there is a way to hide recurring tasks until their respective due dates in ClickUp?
@ZenPilot4 ай бұрын
You can't hide them until the due date appears. However, if your team is looking at a view that sorts tasks by due date, and they use those due dates to prioritize work, that'll help make sure they don't work on tasks too early. You'll see what I mean in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZu4naSprLJ4o6Msi=B7W182m1akn6xmuk&t=1179

I find when I create a recurring task, such as a daily checklist. The closed subtasks and Action Items get their status carried over to the next recurrence. Very annoying. I wonder if I need to make changes to the "Create New Task" options.
@ZenPilot11 ай бұрын
Hmm very interesting. I'd use the "Create New Task" option for sure. You can always experiment with the "Update Status To: " feature as well! Make sure you don't have any automations in the background!

I set a recurring task with custom, every two days, but not seeing it on the calandar view. only once, and not always. what did I miss
@ZenPilot4 ай бұрын
You'll want to navigate to your calendar view settings > layout options > and turn on future recurring tasks

if a recurring task needs to be done 5 times in a day at specified time period, how will I be able to repeat tasks for multiple times in a day?
@ZenPilot7 ай бұрын
Your options are to either... A) Create 5 tasks that all recur. The due date could have a time added to the due date as well. For example, the first task may be due at 9am, the 2nd due at 11am, the third at 1pm, etc. B) Your other option is to create the one task and have a checklist in it with 5 checklist items. The task would just recur daily.
