This is an excellent video. I just upgraded from Movie Studio Platinum to Vegas Pro and I'm learning about color correction. In your video with the final adjustments you made, I eould have liked to see the histogram again. It looked to me like the white in boat was blown out and this could be diagnosed in the histogram. Thanks for the work flow tips too. I mainly work with video game footage, but on my current project, I'm going to see what playing around with the image does. Thank you.

I have MSP 13 and I use the BCC Flicker fixer on my videos because all my recording is done inside workshops that have fluro lights which causes pretty bad flickering, My only problem is that when I use the plugin BCC Flicker Fixer with YCC setting it removes the flicker but makes the video quite blurry, any ideas or if you already have a video that covers that greatly appreciated, far from falling asleep, I always watch your videos multiple times to make sure I haven't missed anything. Thanks again for the great videos.

This is an amazing video, thanks! I'll have to watch this video a couple of times again to let it sink in. I wish Movie Studio had those videoscopes... very useful. I've adjusted 'Levels' before when transferring old VHS to my computer, but I've just judged it by eye... those scopes would really help! The only thing I'd change is when you said that technically you can upload RGB 0-255 to KZbin, but there is wisdom in squashing things down just a little bit. After a lot of testing last year I'd go further and say that the video you upload to KZbin should DEFINITELY be RGB 16-235. If you upload a video to KZbin in full RGB 0-255, then it will look very 'contrasty' because the lows and highs will be squeezed into the 16-235 range. Anyway, thanks again for a brilliant tutorial.

14:00 KZbin does not display 0-15 and 235-255, and documents out there ( www.bubblevision.com/underwater-video/KZbin-Vimeo-levels-fix.htm ) say that if you upload a video that uses those colors it will not only squash them down to the TV standards, but it'll look worse than it would if you had manually done it before uploading. because contrast will be much worse when KZbin does it.

I noticed that your scopes continue to register the changes as the video is played (i.e. the scopes adjust). However, my scopes are frozen until I stop the timeline, then they adjust to the current frame. Is there a switch I need to click? I know this is a little off topic, but if you know of something I need to do, I would be very appreciative!

Great video however I have one problem. The image I see in the Vegas preview window does not correlate with the resulting rendered video. It ends up being rendered darker. This seems to be a known problem. Are there any solutions to this? EDIT: Ok the solution seems to be to add the levels preset "computer to studio rgb" setting. Thanks for the video mate.

This might be hard to answer in a comment, but....if I have several different video clips (or just one video with several splits) and I did a color correction that I really liked in one of the clips/splits. Is there a way to copy and paste the same color correction settings from that clip to all other clips? Whenever I face this problem, I keep having to manually change the color correction on each individual clip, and that's a real pain. Sorry If this didn't make sense.

I was told that for color correction, you should just do all your correcting and then at the very end, add the computer to studio RGB to the output fx. Is that right? So while you're color correcting, you treat white as 255 and black as 0. And the studio rgb check box in the scopes settings should not be checked if you do it this way.
@MovieStudioZen8 жыл бұрын
There is no black and white answer. If you apply proper correct colour correction first, you should not have to then add Studio to RGB at the end, because you have already brought the whites and blacks into "Broadcast Safe" range with your primary colour correction. What will most likely happen if you add the 2nd filter at the end is "nothing", because the video has already been corrected.
@mike702dax8 жыл бұрын
Right, but if you make your blacks 0 and whites 255, it was determined on the Vegas forum that media players and DVD players expand the levels. So if you produce a video that conforms to 16-235, then when played back on most devices, blacks will be 0 and whites 255. But if you make blacks 0 in Vegas, then they will be crushed and out of range when played back on DVD, etc. At least this is how I understood it.

Hi, I have a question: I have a video made by someone, the video consists of multiple scene. each scene has different color. In order to correct them each scene differently. I use split option so that I can apply color curves for each scene. My question is: how to make the transition between each scene looks smooth? let's say scene 2 is right after scene1, because scene 1 and 2 has different color curves applied, how to make the video looks smooth, I dont want to give myself a feeling that there is a sudden change in color tone. thank you :)
@MovieStudioZen8 жыл бұрын
Instead of splitting between each scene, you need to add Key-Frames to any FX you use. At bottom of Colour Curves FX is Animate button. Press this and then start adding key-frames to control your settings over time.

than k you , will try later today. Do you have similar tutorial that talks about this situation?
