Tough situation. You don't want to get teased by the mean girls or look stupid in front of the boy. I had a similar situation in high school, but it was a girl I liked :) What I did was act super-confident, used humour that they found funny, and I was really well-prepared. I didn't use any notes and there wasn't PPT then, so I was able to perform like an actor on stage. I did it to prove to myself that I could do it better than anybody else. It worked :) Good luck. Let me know what happened.

Thanks for watching and for your question. That's a good question! In a presentation, you are the dominant figure, the leader at that time. If it was me, I would first go along with what the person says; agree with him/her and make a joke about yourself, too. Not much someone can do to you then. BUT, if they continue, I'd tell them to leave. Not ask, tell. They are now causing a distraction for everyone else, which is unacceptable. Other people will be happy you got rid of the person.

I think your 3 ways of eye contact are so good to apply for the meeting and small group meeting etc. Smiling with the eyes is not easy to me every moments in the working hours. but you remind me that I should have it in mind all the time. Thank you Carl!

Really liked the suggestion about taking a few paces towards the person whose question you are answering.... Might i suggest an alternate way to make eye contact by looking at an audience member for 2 secs?... its this, look at an audience member for the entire length of your sentence. When you finish your sentence, look to another audience member and begin your next sentence. The 2 sec tip is also a good one... just wanted to share the alternative

@mrjohnnyscarface Thanks! Yup, had my Zoom H1 on the table in front of me for separate audio. The sound is good, but because the floor is wood, the mic picked up the footsteps from people nearby! I'm thinking I might get a Rode Videomic Pro this year.

@mrjohnnyscarface The Rode's nice because of it's small size, but big sound. I'll definitely look into something like the Sennheiser one day, too. Fun shopping for the toys! My next is either the Rode or a GoPro Hero2... or both, if the boss will allow it :)
