Thanks for making this tutorial, my friend has always only used floss picks and has a lot of bleeding gums because they never knew until recently about that you don’t just put the floss pick straight in and out of the teeth. They had never done the ‘sawing’ motion and curved around each tooth.

Great video! Sounding a bit funny for education! Love it 😂 My fingers hyperextend due to ehler's danlos syndrome, which makes string flossing difficult, so I use this method. I recently started using the Oral B Gum Care floss picks with adjustable tension and they're even better than normal floss picks! So easy to use. Highly recommend. I just wish they were cheaper, but I think it's worth it. Love your videos!

Okay soooo, now how do i not take 45 minutes in the bathroom doing this, plus water flossing, plus brushing my teeth and tongue?? My partner complains i take too long 😂
@L1ttlef0ot2 ай бұрын
It should only take about 1 minute to floss, a few minutes to waterpik (including water refilling etc), and teeth and tongue combined for me takes exactly 3 minutes, but ideally should be more like 2 1/2 mins. Total that makes approx. 10 minutes. If it takes longer than that, I wonder if maybe you get sidetracked or get focused on something else while doing these tasks, or maybe spots you feel need more attention than others you’re spending more time than necessary?

Hi are you supposed to clean the dental pick after cleaning your teeth?
@catboxcleaner35322 ай бұрын
Thank you, Whitney. You are lovely. I’ve tried floss picks, for me, they quickly fray, and I feel like debris would be pushed into the gums, and they would need rinsing after each tooth. So, like you say, they could work in a pinch if we’re out and about, or out of string floss 😨, but I prefer string floss. I’d like to try inter-proximal brushes in addition. Do those need to be rinsed between teeth, and are those re-usable for multiple flossing sessions, or a single use floss session? Thank you, Whitney.
@TeethTalk2 ай бұрын
it depends on which ones! the rubber ones are one time used and the toothbrush bristle ones can be reused :) I prefer to rinse occasionally during use. here's my video that explains more -- hope this helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5-liXmhaNSUrbc

I’m a Medical Doctor but I still have this irrational fear of the gunk being pushed into the periodontal pocket. I’ve seen your videos on flossing and explaining how it’s disrupting the biofilm. But my fear still hasn’t gone away 🥲. The thing that keeps me up at night, is the thought that “if the floss can push the gunk out, then what’s stopping it from pushing it in the opposite direction? There isn’t some magic mechanism that only allows the floss to move the plaque in one direction.” Big fan of your videos btw and big respect to my dental peeps out there.
@TeethTalk2 ай бұрын
thank you so much for watching! no worries! if you feel more comfortable maybe consider water flossing after the string floss so then your mind can better think about how everything was 100% pushed out! nothing's gettin' past a water flosser! hope this helps!

like I said in the video -- it's not my first choice. traditional string floss is always my first choice, if it's used correctly. but a floss pick is definitely better than nothing! and it's actually great when used in conjunction with water floss. here's my video that explains more about water flossing -- hope this helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5K9pYF3i79kd9E

Luckily I use a waterpick in the mornings 😬 Hopefully after my surgery I can go back to regular floss 🤞

I often get floss stuck and have to take scissors to cut as close as I can to the tooth. Otherwise, the floss just digs deeper as it's pulled through.

When I use these I put the floss in between my teeth and bite the floss pick to get the floss up in between my teeth. I will try that sawing motion next time. But my dentist said that flossing doesn’t work and that I need to get these little bruises that go between the teeth. But they are expensive compared to the floss picks. Is he right about this or just trying to get more money out of me ? , money that I don’t have. The dental work I’m having done I can’t really afford it but I can’t go on with bad teeth pain.
@fluffykitten9922 ай бұрын
Regular floss does work if your doing it correctly can tell by how much gunk is left on the floss
@L1ttlef0ot2 ай бұрын
Bruises? Did you mean ‘brushes’ ? I’m wondering if you happen to have wide spaces between your teeth. If that’s the case maybe the dr was recommending you try ‘interdental brushes’ for those areas since flossing wide spaces doesn’t work well because you can’t get a good grip on the tooth, which leads to buildup of plaque, which in turn may be causing you inflammation or cavities causing pain, though I don’t have enough information to know what kind of pain you’re having. Let me know if that sounds like what they might have been saying (I work in a dental office, but I’m not a doctor). Edit: if they were saying to use those interdental brushes, they’re not a scam. It just depends why you were recommended them.
@TeethTalk2 ай бұрын
if you're talking about proxy brushes -- they can very well be recommended for certain mouths. if your dentist recommends them, I'd consider them! everyone's mouth is different and everyone benefits more from different products. here's my video that explains: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5-liXmhaNSUrbc hope this helps!

@L1ttlef0ot2 ай бұрын
Trust me, over time they can become less sensitive but that’s only if you are consistent with flossing/brushing (and doing it every day even if your gums bleed every time). The reason gums bleed is bacteria is getting below your gum line, which makes your gums irritated, causing inflammation. This inflammation is what makes your gums bleed easily. (I work in a dental office, but I’m not a doctor).
