Thanks mate, this really helped, I just bought the GH5 with the Leica lens I own a Nikon D7200 and am very used to still photography but I don't know squat about video, so this is going to be a steep learning curve, I also got a Ronin S gimble a Rode NTG4+ with a blimp boom and a Tascam recorder, so now all I have to do is learn how to use it all plus learn how to edit video and audio, I'm guessing that'll take at least a year LOL, wish me luck !

Hi Zack, Thanks for this video. Today i installed the latest firmware on my GH5. When i do exactly as you showed, in exactly the same shooting mode, i can only choose 50p. There is no option for 60p. Could that be a change in the latest firmware, or maybe has to to with the max speed of my memory card? ( 64GB / 150Mb/s)

Is there a way you can change a recorded slow mo vid to a regular vid on gh5 cause when you record in the slow mo it has another time next to that shorter time in the gallery.

Excellent!..thanks for you detailed explanation of this feature...I just got my GH5 and will play around with this and set up a Slo Mo on C3 or C2......Question: while recording normally, what happens if you turn the dial to C3 (if you have set the slo mo on this)? Will it continue to record slo mo or do you have to stop the normal recording and then start a new recording in Slow Mo?

To my knowledge you have to stop and switch dial then start again. I believe if you turn dial with video recording it will keep current settings until you end the video, And will not register the setting change.

I really like your video.It has helped a lot. Can you help me with something. I record in 24 fps, Angle 180, VFR 180, when I put it in my timeline it automatically is slowed down, but to do speed-ramping I can't figure out how to get the footage to play in 24fps to then slow down only the parts I want slowed down. Do you know how?

Grizle Me Hmm I’m not sure, I can check into it though, I know you can go on there and speed up the slow motion footage wile in your editing software, but to have it do it automatically I’m not really sure, I actually preferred to have it show in my timeline what is in slow motion because those clips do not have sound and it helps me keep track of what I need to pay extra attention to, if that makes sense. To make sure I don’t miss anything and know where my slow motion clips are

Im not positive, but I am assuming as long as your card will take data. There is no recording limit on this camera so there shouldn't be an issue with it cutting off. Sorry for the late response!

Wild Israel Yuval Dax No, that’s one of the flaws of the gh5, autofocus does not work with high frame rates. You will have to manual focus, which is a good and a bad thing. You don’t have to worry about the focus jumping around, but you do have to do more work to achieve what you want. I set up high frame rate on a custom dial so I could just switch to it when I need it, then switch back quickly to get back to auto focus

What Sd cards do you use in your GH5?

Most of my cards are just a standard 90-95mbs 64gig cards. If you do a lot of 4k I would reccomend a faster card. Most I shoot in 1080p!

What is the difference of VFR in 60fps and 24fps. Is it just me or do you get a slower image when using 24fps?

Yes to my knowledge you just don't have as smooth of footage when filmed in 24fps. If filmed in 60fps you have just a little bit extra manipulation head room in post Sorry for the comment delay, youtube didn't notify me that I had any!

24p is the rate by default in your time line. 60p is the actual rate onset

Hmm, first thing I would do is go into your settings and see if the camera was set up in PAL instead of NTSC. I know they have different recording options for each and that could be your problem. Let me know and we will go from there

Recording sound when you are recording video for slomo or high speed makes no sense to me. Why is it a problem that this camera does not do that?

You did not explain hot to make VFR On.. Mine is Off in the menu and I could not bring it on to ON... VFR is graded out. Disabled I mean

I'm playing the footage back and it's not playing back at slo mo. It's playing back at standard speed.

You may need to work on it in you’re editing software, all the data should be there you just need to manually slow the speed through the software, try than and let me know and we will go from there

Seriously- what's the real difference between running 4K 24P/VFR/60P and 4K at 60P? You will get autofocus and sound at 4K/60P, and the slow-motion is great.
