In this video, I’ll show you the basics of how to use Guitar Pro tablature software. I use Guitar Pro for creating all my guitar lesson tablature files and I use it all the time for tabbing out different licks and things that I come up with.
In this lesson, we’ll be tabbing out a 12 bar blues progression that we’ll borrow from the song “Blues Stay Away From Me” in the style of Merle Haggard. We’ll have a link below this video where you can download a trial of Guitar Pro tab software and we’ll also have a link for downloading the tablature that goes along with this lesson.

This is a great video! Thank you. I've had GP for quite awhile (4 yrs?) and always had trouble tabbing (I have no music background but play guitar). I would quickly lose interest and put it aside. When I decided I would try to tab out my take on Lindsey Buckingham's World Turning, this video was the first I tried. You focus on what's needed to get the job done!

Hey! is there a way to add wrist thumps and slaps on the tab? A small o on the top of the notes for the thump and an x for the slap. Thanks in advance!

Please can you help me. when entering my tab notes the bar will not advance for me to enter new notes in... what am I doing wrong

In bars 5 and 6 it shows the hammer on music notation but not on the tab section for that bar, why is that and could have been done in a way that shows it is actually a hammer on? Just a conformity freak here. Really enjoyed seeing you do this, learned a few short cuts for Guitar Pro I didn’t know. Thank you.

Fantastic, slow paced video explaining how to do this.. Enjoyed it. I've only watched 5 minutes but I had to comment! Im doing bass tabs but it's really the same dynamic to learn and understand. Do you know if you can remove the 's. guit' thing right next to the staff? I don't need to see that and it bugs me. I just want a clean simple looking tab. And I also wonder how you sync this up if the original song moves around a bit in tempo (as some recordings do).. but perhaps you'll answer that later in the video.. Back to watching... Thanks

Hey Murphy... to remove the "s. guit."... go to the Stylesheet > Systems & Staves > Track Name > Single Track > and toggle Display to OFF. That'll do it!
