Wife got me 30 knives at a dollar store to mess around with. Work Sharp sent me their line of products. Been recording for months. Need to edit and get out there soon. Def a learning curve but many have come out great. I’ve taken a few that are so dull they could be movie props and got them scary sharp pretty quick. Now I’m onto the BGA with some kitchen knives, machetes, and other large outdoor knives etc. thanks for the video

The learning curve isn't to bad. I did like you and got a lot of cheap knives and went to town. I'm in the process of doing a worksharp series on different topics but time hasn't been on my side lately. Let me know when you release your videos. Thanks Pete!

Good video...you know what you are doing. "It's relaxing grinding steel"....I liked that. Start the learning curve using cheaper, softer steel knives; and you lowing speed as you progress. These tips are very helpful.

+Rob Adventures there's a little bit of a learning curve. But if you practice on old kitchen or beater knives it get pretty easy. I like all ways of sharpening, this one is the fastest. Plus I like the convex edge it puts on the blade.

Thanks for the video. I just received the WS-KO & Grinder for Christmas. Looking forward to learning how to use it. This demo was helpful. Presently for a convex edge I am sharpening knives on wet/dry sandpaper stretched tight on top of stiff foam glued to a piece of wood (a heavy duty type paint stick from Home Depot. ) Then stropping on leather. A couple of questions: a) any difference in technique, beyond requiring more passes, when sharpening harder steels? I have knives with VG10, ZDP 189, CPM3V, etc, b) have you found any advantage when using the grinder due to being able to sharpen both sides of the edge with the belt always moving away from the edge -- vs the standard attachment guide, where for one side the belt is moving away from the edge, but when honing the opposite side the belt would be moving toward the edge, because you are restricted to always pulling the knife across the belt & away from the attachment from the same side? (vs with the grinder attachment where the knife can be pulled across the belt to the left or to the right side). Thank you.

No different techniques for different steels other than higher speed and more passes. I really prefer the grinder attachment with the belt going the same way on both sides. It's more consistent and it makes it easier to watch the bur on the blade edge. I honestly never use the original attachment. I've had more issues with inconsistency and scratching the blade up. Hope this helps if you have any other questions just hit me up.

Thank you for the video, I learned something I can use. I just got my Ken Onion today with the Blade Grinder attachment, and just want ask for an idea of how long a set of belts lasts? Most of the knives I'm going to be using it with, I'll be re-profiling the edges, and I'm afraid that's gonna eat through the belts pretty fast. Also, I wanted to ask if you've ever sharpened recurve knifes on the Blade Grinder, and if so, how does it work?
@BlueCollarSurvival5 жыл бұрын
Re-profiling eats up the factory belts pretty quick. I would recommend buying after market heavier grit belts. With the factory belts I did a couple complete overhauls on a hand full of blades before the belts were no longer any good.

At which point do you alternate sides of the knives between each strokes? I see at the beginning you did 5 times one side before flipping knife over. But later on you would alternate sides after every pull.
@BlueCollarSurvival6 жыл бұрын
When I get to the finer grit belts I dio the alternate every pull to help remove the burr.

thank you, just received both ken orion and tool accessory, your video will help, will watch over and over, can a tattoo be removed? me and a couple of buddies of mine got drunk and wanted tattoo's. I was so drunk and wanted mother with a heart tattoo on my upper arm. anyway friends chickened out and I was passed out, they, talked guy into doing heart but put it on butt cheek and left off the er and now I have a heart tattoo that says moth in it on my ass. its very embarrassing and so uncool.
@BlueCollarSurvival6 жыл бұрын
Tattoos can be removed but it's more painful than the tattoo itself. A cover up would be cheaper and less painful.

wich belts do you use and where to get them ?

I use knock off belts from Amazon. I haven't had any problems with them yet and they're cheaper than the Work Sharp belts. Thanks man

THERE SHOULD BE AN ATTACHMENT WHERE YOU COULD REST YOUR KNIFE ON DURING THE SHARPENING PROCESS.....JUST HAVING A " REFERENCE POINT" IS WORTH NOTHING WHEN YOU CAN´T KEEP YOUR HANDS STILL...TO ME IT SEEMED THAT EVEN YOU TILTED ( EVER SO SLIGHTLY) YOUR BLADE WHILST PULLING IT ACROSS...TO ME PERSONALLY, THIS WOULD BE NOT WORTH THE MONEY...JUST SAYING!
@BlueCollarSurvival6 жыл бұрын
Yea its not always perfect but out works pretty good depending on how many knives you sharpen.
