Hi Melissa is it safe for oily acne prone sensitive skin?
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet4 ай бұрын
It depends on what triggers your sensitivity in the first place. Some people experience stinging when using an AHA exfoliant, and since it contains AHA, it may be a problem for your skin.

Hi Melissa! A huge fan of yours!! Thank you for providing such informative videos. I had watched your ordinary salicylic acid video and I wanted to try it out so I purchased it recently after the new formula was released and I’ve been including it in my routine since last week. I have always had problematic skin with acne and blemishes but after using the salicylic acid I have gotten several micro comedones and pimples.. I have a feeling my skin is purging as it doesn’t feel like a normal breakout. I wanted to ask you if my skincare routine will actively work in clearing out my skin and if you could suggest any changes or any other products I can include. AM Oil based cleanser from The Face Shop Brightening face wash from Neutrogena Ordinary 2% salicylic acid Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc Vitamin C Cetaphil Moisturizer Super goop unseen sunscreen AM Oil based cleanser from The Face Shop Brightening face wash from Neutrogena Ordinary 2% salicylic acid Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc Vitamin C Cetaphil Moisturizer Thank you so much for all your videos!

Hello :) There is no need to double cleanse in the morning; it is primarily done to remove pigmented/staining makeup and mineral sunscreen in the evening. What Vitamin C do you use, and which Cetaphil moisturizer do you have? And have you ever used a Salicylic Acid serum/cleanser before, or is that the first one you used? And I think you made a mistake because you have two-morning routines and no evening routine 🤔? Or are you only planning to use these products in the morning? Overall I think you have too many products that are not needed. But if you answer the questions above, I can help you further.
@snesuzanna87692 жыл бұрын
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet hello love! Thank you so much for replying! I made a mistake 😅 the second routine is the PM routine.. To answer your questions, I have never used Salicylic acid ever before. I remember you had said in your video, to first use it a few times a week and then shift to using it once everyday and then using it twice if needed - I think I might’ve jumped the gun and directly started applying it twice a day, which could be the reason for the flare up ☹️ I thought it would’ve been okay to directly use it 2wice a day because I used to use the Ordinary Peeling AHA BHA once in 15 days. So I figured my skin would be able to adapt to it.. The Vitamin C I am using is the Dear Khlairs one. The cetaphil moisturizer I am using is the moisturizing lotion for Dry, Normal and Sensitive skin. I have a doubt if my moisturizer is subtly clogging my pores as well so I think I might switch to the Ordinary moisturizer soon. I would love to hear your advice on what I can do to save my skin 😃
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet2 жыл бұрын
@@snesuzanna8769 Yes, that is a moisturiser which is only suitable for dry skin. Also, according to The Ordinary, you should avoid using their Niacinamide with Ascorbic Acid (Pure Vitamin C) serums. So the Dear Klairs Vitamin C falls into that category. So my suggestion would be to use it like this: AM Brightening face wash from Neutrogena Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc or Vitamin C Super goop unseen sunscreen PM Oil-based cleanser from The Face Shop (if needed to remove the sunscreen or makeup etc.) Brightening face wash from Neutrogena Ordinary 2% salicylic acid Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc or Vitamin C (depending on which one you picked during the daytime) The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors

Hey! :) Hmm, I haven't tried their PHA toner, so I'm not sure how 'potent' it is. Although it's a milder exfoliating acid toner, the combination could still become quite potent depending on your skin's tolerance and the frequency of use. In other words, you would need to test it out. Alternatively, you could use the toner in the AM and the serum in the PM.

I recommend using just one exfoliant, whether it's an Exfoliating Acid Cleanser, Toner, or Serum. Using too many exfoliating acids in one routine or too frequently can cause sensitivities or irritations over time. As for the order of application, see here: kzbin.infoRGqwdAuPOco?feature=shared and here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIXKaZuoerZ8rK8feature=shared However, I also recommend investigating the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), or your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, milk, bread (gluten), eggs, chicken, etc).

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet2 жыл бұрын
@@akilarahmanchy9999. No, there is no concern. The concern is just for UV rays. So this is not influenced by heat and counts only for sun exposure. So let's say you go out into the sun (or even on a cloudy day as the UV index is critical, which can also be high on cloudy days as the light gets reflected), then you should use sun protection because AHA/BHA make the skin sensitive to the sun. (Based on what they do to the skin) So they remove dead skin cells, and the new skin underneath is more prone to sun damage. To keep it simple when using this product, use sun protection when being outside; that's it! :)

You do not need to use all of these exfoliating acids. It would be best to choose the one that suits your needs the most, in your case, that would be Salicylic Acid. AM Routine: Salicylic + LHA 02% Face Cleanser. Pat the skin dry. Sepicalm 03% Moisturizer (if you do not have sun exposure). SPF 50 (if you do have sun exposure). PM Routine: A regular water-based foaming cleanser (e.g., Cetaphil, CeraVe, or The Ordinary). Pat the skin dry. Sepicalm 03% Moisturizer. PM Routine on alternate days (PM2): A regular water-based foaming cleanser (e.g., Cetaphil, CeraVe, or The Ordinary). Pat the skin dry. Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) 03% Toner or Salicylic Acid 02% Face Serum. Wait 1-2 minutes for it to absorb. Apply Sepicalm moisturizer.
