Loved hearing the benefits of highload multijoint movements because I incorporate a lot of those into my own training program. Also super jealous of your home gym setup right now lol.

What is your opinion on foot strength training, and how it can help over all performance?
@DrJacobGoodin3 жыл бұрын
highly underrated. It has the potential to improve performance in individuals who currently lack the ability to transfer and absorb forces well at the foot/ankle complex. Coach Joel Smith has a lot of great foot training content on his podcast Just Fly Performance Podcast.

Is the bench press a closed chain movement? Or is it a open chain?
@DrJacobGoodin3 жыл бұрын
In a sense it is closed chain because the distal portion of the limb (your hands) are fixed on the bar. One arm cannot move without affecting the other because the barbell closes the kinetic chain into a loop. Therefore it's a closed kinetic chain movement.

@@DrJacobGoodin Thankyou, I was under the assumption from my understanding that if what you are pressing or pulling against is in a fixed position than it is a closed chain. Ex: pushup your body is moving vs your arms.
@DrJacobGoodin3 жыл бұрын
@@CoachMerc For sure. And that would be a sight variation of the definition. In reality it's more of a spectrum than binary categories. The idea of a chain begets linkages, and in the bench press one arm is linked to the other via the barbell, closing the chain. But you're right that it's not fixed in space as when doing a push-up! Perhaps then we should say that the barbell bench press is more closed kinetic chain than a dumbbell bench press, but more open kinetic chain than a push-up. I like that you're aiming to be precise!
