Thank you Lynn, This was a very timely video for me as I would like to use up my cut offs to make some blanks. I was thinking about mixing medias to make for some more striking blanks.Regards,Bob

+RJBWoodTurner Its a good way to maximize material utilization and you are limited only by your imagination. Thanks again

I really liked this video. I'm in process of making 25 ink pens with wood from my grandmother's grandmother's home which was destroyed by tornado last year. I'm using white oak from the house with walnut, and white plastic accents. The walnut represents a large black walnut tree and the white plastic represents a weeping willow tree. Both trees were near the old homestead in Illinois. Large family members are very pleased by two practice pens that are already completed and have placed orders. Keep on with the videos. Great job.

I've had the same problem with different "materials" sanding differently in a spalted walnut pen. The spalted sapwood was softer than the dark walnut. The pen kind of came out with an ever so slight triangle in it. But it is a great look. Definitely worth using spalted wood. Nice pen Lynn, thanks for the tips!

Really like the idea of using different materials in pen blanks/ and other blanks...but never thought of the difference in density of the materials, well i do now, thanks for the info Lynn, and a sweet pen too.

Same problem here with spalted wood, I started soaking it in Minwax wood hardener, I have been having very good luck with that on spalted wood. Great looking pen Lynn

It is a nice looking pen. I would think you could do the CA finish without the masking. I wouldn't think the CA coats on the alumilite would be a problem. What do you think?

Lynn - great video. Gives me a lot of design ideas. What vice are you using to hold the blanks for drilling?

So, how do you like that Indiana weather? A bit cold for a Texan aye?
@LynnLaceyLLWW7 жыл бұрын
+Mike Bratcher Ha! It was 40 degrees in Texas when I left Friday, 34 degrees in Indy when I arrived Friday afternoon but 75 degrees in Texas when I got home Sunday night! Not to bad in Indy. Thanks for the comment.
