Both salicylic acid and retinol are potent ingredients with exfoliating and renewing properties. When used together, especially for those with sensitive skin, it can increase the risk of irritation and dryness. Here are potential issues one can see when combining salicylic acid and retinol: a. Increased Sensitivity: Both salicylic acid (a beta-hydroxy acid) and retinol (a form of vitamin A) can increase skin sensitivity. Using them together may lead to irritation, redness, dryness, or peeling, especially for those with sensitive skin. b. Over-Exfoliation: Both salicylic acid and retinol are exfoliating agents, and using them concurrently might increase the risk of over-exfoliation. Over-exfoliation can compromise the skin barrier and lead to various skin issues. c. Decreased Efficacy: Combining salicylic acid and retinol may reduce the efficacy of both ingredients. They work through different mechanisms, and using them at the same time might interfere with their absorption and effectiveness. 2. False. Salicylic acid is not technically classified as an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA); rather, it belongs to the beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) category. Unlike AHAs, which are water-soluble, salicylic acid is oil-soluble.

Hello beautiful Nipun ma'am, the answers are as follows: 1) Hazardous effects will be shown on skin as soon as you apply a salicylic acid serum (which is a beta hydroxy acid) with retinol. Not only does the skin start peeling and become dry, it will also damage the skin barrier as salicylic acid will exfoliate and retinol will increase the cell turn over leading to ultimately irritated dry skin which can even lead to hyperpigmentation. 2) salicylic acid loves oil i.e it is oil soluble beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that is why it can go deep into pores and and get rid of the gunk and excess sebum.
