it does sound super useful, especially when working on the same level and it doesnt overwrite my work

great, another tutorial, again not a word about how to handle blueprints/materials/etc
@anchorpoint29882 ай бұрын
Changing materials and blueprints is similar to changing something in the scene. It will show up as a changed file, it will be locked automatically. Once you push and your colleague will pull it, the lock will be released.

At 3:27, the folder used is actually the Project code folder (With Config, Content Intermediate, etc. subfolders). I was confused by this. Very fast reply on Discord by Jochen who started helping me within a minute to resolve an issue I had. Great product, highly recommended. Great technical help when needed.

My biggest issue with all these tutorials, is that none show how to get the cloned repo to a working unreal build. Due to the gitignore rules, a lot of files are left out of being uploaded to github. How would one get those files on a new pc, and get the files that are missing due to the gitignore?
@anchorpoint29882 ай бұрын
The files that are missing through gitignore are created again on your PC. E.g. derived data cache is created once you launch the editor for the first time.

When I try to create a project Anchorpoint always returns the error "Could not create project". It just creates an empty repository without any of the project files.

Hey, can you go to "Workspace Settings" / "Integrations" and then Disconnect it, restart Anchorpoint and then Connect it again? We have seen some issues with new GitHub accounts and are working on fix right now.

why would i use this when for team (even 2 people) I need to pay? I can use github and github desktop for free.
@anchorpoint29887 ай бұрын
That's a good question. These are the main differences between GitHub Desktop and Anchorpoint. 1. File locking. Anchorpoint has an automatic file locking system when you modify files. No other Git client has this. This will avoid a lot of lost work, when multiple people work on the same project and by accident modify the same files. 2. The whole LFS setup is handles automatically + Anchorpoint handles a lot of edge cases, where GitHub desktop would just display an error. 3. Unreal Engine thumbnails and one file per actor support. If you e.g. use World Partition and change objects in your level, GitHub desktop will show you hashed (strange looking) file name. Anchorpoint will show the correct actor name. And as a bonus, you can also organize your art files (Blender, Substance etc.)

Pleaaaaaaaaaase i need help, i get this error : SourceControl: Error: fatal: Invalid path '/Memory': No such file or directory
@anchorpoint29886 ай бұрын
What you can also do is click on the “…” in the top right corner and pick “Send us a Message”. Just type in that we talked here. We will get the error log with the message.

Why the hell did you make git version control now paid... what
@anchorpoint29887 ай бұрын
You can still use Git for free with GitHub Desktop or SourceTree. If you want to use the features (e.g. file locking) that Anchorpoint provides, what's wrong in paying for that.

yeah recommending only one program with such a tight pricing policy makes this video feel like it's sponsored.
