Hi there again, great to see you actually uploaded the video! I put it on pause last time we talked, was actually actually waiting for this. And just started getting into it today. (currently taking a break from learning landscaping) P.S. Also, have to mention, Unreal Engine is a pain in my ass. Few times was actually thinking of giving a Unity another chance, Light Baking almost had me do it. But in the end I decided on finishing what I started here :p

Maybe you could also recommend optimal approach to working on multiple devices. I have a laptop and a PC, want to switch between sometimes! Thanks

@@ohmyme13 hello again! and happy you came back to the channel to see your recommendation! I use this method all the time at work to go between my workstation, home workstation, and laptop (which is macbook pro, gross I know haha!). Once you have your project on git, you can use github desktop to connect and make updates from multiple devices. I use parsec to remote in to each computer if I accidentally forgot to push changes. And yes, I definitely hear you about light baking. I'm currently not using gpu lightmass on my VR project at work because it's so unreliable. Went back to CPU lightmass. Cheers!

​@@GlassHandFilms Of couse I came back to check, I was waiting for the video! I'll look into your advice, thanks! Didn't even get a chance to use GPU lightmass, since only my laptop has Ray Tracing capable GPU. I was more so stuck because of weirdness that was happening with light baking itself (besides the tonn of settings that you need to check). There was this bug(I guess), still is. It just wont let me use light bake for some reason, despite putting all the lights on static and meshes static too, but when I create a new level with the same settings, it works. Sometimes I just wanna throw my monitor at the Unreal Engine devs

@@ohmyme13 there is a setting on the world settings panel called "Force No Precomputed Lighting". Do you think you had that enabled by accident? That might explain why it worked in a fresh level. Hope that helps. Cheers :)

Hi, because I use a lot of assets i think, my project is HUGE! How best to reduce my upload size? What lines should I add to gitignore?

I always add "Build" to my gitignore. That will make sure the build folder is not checked in to source control. As for assets, that's a tough one. Basically everything in unreal engine gets converted into a .uasset file. Meshes, textures, all sorts of stuff! The best thing that you can practice is to compress textures to a reasonable size and delete assets that you know you will not use in your project. There is a handy filter for the content browser called "not used in any level". That should help you locate assets that you can delete. I hope that helps!

@@GlassHandFilms thanks, yes i was wondering which folders you can avoid uploading.. i think you can block intermediate and saved as well?

@@Unreality42 yes! I believe there is a preset that unreal makes for you when you choose git as source control. You don't need to check in "Build", Derived Data Cache, intermediate, saved. I might be forgetting one 🤔 I'll check back once I'm at my computer later
