Had my Turbo Levo SL Comp one week and as a newbie to emtb riding I am trying to get my head around these settings. I love the bike but sometimes when I go down from trail to eco it feels too harsh. as if the brakes have been applied so I will play with these settings and tomorrow when I go off for an early ride see how things change. This all makes sense now so well done and thanks from a Brit living in France.

This is the best basic video on how to set up mission control. Seems like folks are trying to figure out the difference between "Support" and "Peak" power. My read is that "Peak" is the assist you receive while pedaling rapidly, say above 70rpm, and "Support" is the assist you receive while pedaling slower. I proved this to myself with trial and error riding tests so I'm pretty sure (not 100%) this is correct or at least that how it works for me.

Now you have explained how to change the settings for the ride, its much better. Thanks for the clear precise explanation😀

Sounds like you are confusing what Support is. Support is the multiplier on the pedaling that you put into it. Peak Power is the max amount of current flowing from the battery to the system. So, if you are a very strong peddler, but want as much range of power the bike will give you, set the Support to low and keep the peak power high. You will have to pedal harder to use the full range of power coming from the battery. Keeping the turbo setting at 100/100 makes sense, because that gives you the max multiplier for your pedaling power, and the max output from the battery. If you like numbers: A setting of 50/50 on a 4x motor (like the Levo) means if your body outputs 50W of power by pedaling, you will get 50% of 4x, which would add about 100 watts to your pedaling. But your power ceiling is going to be 50% of about 560 watts: 280watts. After that, any increase in power output will be all from your legs. So in this case, if your pedaling is generating 140 watts, you'll get and additional 280watts. After that, you get no multiplier. So If you pedal at 200 watts, you're still only getting 280 watts in assist, because your peak power ceiling is at half. So three interesting levels would be: a power saver mode (something close to 35/35), a "wide" trail mode: Support 60: Peak 100, and leave Turbo the same: 100/100. That gives you a powerful middle mode, where if you pedal harder, you can still get all the battery/motor can give, you just have to work harder.

Great vido. I suspect that some of the settings are based on skill and fitness levels as well. I would love to see more conversation around certain situations as they related to settings. I suspect that super technical rocky sections require a lot of power but also some pedal feel so understanding how acceleration might impact that would be helpful.

I've had my Turbo Levo Expert for about 6 months and put almost 500 miles on it. I haven't touched the power settings and I'm just now trying to understand how they affect the motor, so that I can customize it. I started to do it when I first got the bike, but I didn't really even understand how I would ride the bike. Now that I have a good understanding I want to customize these settings. Out of the 500 miles I have on the bike about 5 miles are in eco mode, 400 miles in trail mode and 95 miles in Turbo mode. I only use turbo for long climbs, or if I just want to do a quick spin on my local trails at full speed for fun. I love the power and wish it had more. I think the more power the better. I don't really care about exercise, that's not why I ride. I ride for fun, and I just want to have fun. I can get exercise at the gym. I'm going to adjust it so that eco mode is what I ride in 50% of the time, then trail mode will be when I want to ride fast but don't care about battery about 30% of time, and Turbo will be used 20% of the time for climbs. I think I'm going to set eco-mode at just under trail mode is now to extend my range. Right ow the way I ride I can get about 25 miles on a full charge. I would like to get a little more out of it for those long summer days where I want to ride all day.

One thing to remember, take care of your motor, Watch the temp, don't do 100% support and stomp hard from a dead stop, and if you are running turbo for a while, check the temp and take a break and let the motor rest. I think the motor will last longer this way, just like a car that you don't drive around all lead footed alsts longer

Support is expressed as a percentage (20%, 50%, etc). My question is: percentage of what? Of the total motor power, limited by the peak power? Or of the rider power applied to pedals? No vídeo I have seen so far makes that clear. Appreciate any light on this.

I am really confused because for microtuning its only changing one number for the modes and using the app you can adjust support and peak power seperately like you show in the video. Hi Marshall, thanks for your video. I’m hoping you can help me out. For some reason, just recently, I’m unable to independently, set my PEAK POWER, in each different mode. Example ; If I set my peak power in Eco mode to 75%, then move to trail mode , or turbo mode and attempt set them to 80%, It automatically sets them all to the same percentage. I can’t set the Peak power to different %’s in each mode...it defaults to all the same? 🤔 It didn’t always do this. I used to be able to set the Peak power at 3 different percentages( for each mode) , but can’t anymore😔 Do you have any idea why this is happening? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

@@MarshallMullen1 Hey, this is a real question to break your head over. I searched as well and stumbled upon a thread at EMTB forums, where a Specialized tech explained it. He said, "in all modes" 100% is 100% of 560 watts. So, for instance 30 % at ECO/PP will give you 3 times 56 watts maximum. Do not get confused with the 410% assist. That will 560 watts divided by 410, to calculate the number of assist. Other debate, but interesting. Keep up the Nice vids Marshall!

Stealth mode just turns off the lights on the display on the bike. Fake channel is I believe a way to hook up a heart rate monitor, though I have never used it. I am not sure about the display always active thing. Haven't used that. Hope that helps!
@lazurm
@lazurm 2 жыл бұрын
Stealth mode will keep the lights on your TCU on for a few seconds after changing modes or turning the TCU on. It's there so that others don't notice the lights and/or you don't get distracted by them. Fake Channel will allow you to output the percentage of battery remaining by broadcasting the information to your head unit (i.e., a Garmin Edge, etc.) under the category you decide. So, if you choose "Cadence" then the cadence feature will show battery percentage remaining instead of your cadence. The same for the Power choice.

To see if I understand this... if my ride at the end shows that Average Support Level = 100%, does that mean that it is 100% of my output, which would mean that the total power to the wheel is 2X what I put in ? So if I did a 20 mile ride and it turned out to be a 100% Average Support Level, it would be as if i did a 10 mile ride with the motor off ?
@MarshallMullen1

I don't think it is exactly the same as the motor being turned off. It just means that on average, the power of the bike was giving you 100% of the setting you were on.
@lazurm
@lazurm 2 жыл бұрын
Lee W: Average support of 100% at the end of the ride means that the motor was giving you exactly what you were averaging in watts. So, if you averaged 85 watts for your ride, the motor was matching at 85 watts.

@darylgwyn5013
@darylgwyn5013 4 жыл бұрын
Marshall Mullen I’m pretty sure you’re wrong in the video, and in this response. Support is not what you get when you touch the pedal, it’s the percentage of the overall support the motor can give you. E.g the motor can give you 400% of your input effort. I.e if i pedal with 25 watts energy, the motor can add 100watts. Setting support to 25% means the bike will give me a quarter of the possible support. So adds 100% of my effort (or 25watts in above example). So support is as named, the amount of support the motor gives. (Peak power is when that cuts out.. e.g 50% peak power means the motor will stop at a max of 125w output). Shuttle mode changes the approach the motor uses to determine support from the effort the rider puts in, to the cadence. So in 100% shuttle, the motor gives full support if your cadence is high (regardless of effort). While 0% shuttle gives you full support when your effort (watts) is high regardless of cadence.

@@willng247 The derestriction allows a max of 28mph but it's only set at 85% on Boost setting and 65% in Trail as that's what I normally use and the forest trails I use it's very easy to clip one. Before derestriction it would hit 15mph and that was it. The most I have run on Boost 95% but only have used in the summer on a fast run section. The Mission control app is very good to tune settings, battery charges, pedal control over logs in the wet.

@@Nat-fj2bf I had a UK spec restrictor removed so max is fast as you can pedal but 24/25 mph can be hit but just back from forest and hit 24.5 mph on a fire road.

Why did you ignore shuttle....i have done the same trails in all three modes like a10 minute segment....eco consistent 1030sss trail mode 10 flat.. turbo 930s consistently...... my turbo settings are all 100.... shuttle makes a difference for sure...... but use alot of battery at 100 all settings.

Wouldn’t you like to be able to have different acceleration responses in the three different modes? I would like high acceleration response in one mode to allow me to do a pedal lift to get up onto pavements and zero acceleration response on trail mode

The information that is ultimately of use to me is the answer to the question "What % of the overall ride energy / average power is coming from my legs vs. the motor". In my case, I have seen on my Mission Control App, after the ride, an Average Support Level (ASL) reading as high as 80%. So using 80% ASL for a 10 mile bike ride as the example, which of these 3 interpretations is the "Real" meaning of this: 1) 80% ASL means 80% of my effort (and my effort by definition is always 100%). So total power to the bike = 1.8X of my effort. So my contribution to total power = 1/1.8 = 56%. So my 10 mi E-Bike ride is equivalent to a 5.6 mile non E-Bike ride. 2) 80% ASL means that of the overall ride power/energy, 80% came from the motor and 20% came from me. So my 10 mile E-bike ride is equivalent to a 2 mile non E-Bike ride. 3) 80% ASL means that 80% of the motor max power. 80% of 240W = 192W. This is nice to know but tells me nothing about what % of the ride energy/power I contributed, so is kind of a worthless number to me. If someone who knows can post which of 1, 2 or 3 is correct, or if there's an even different interpretation, I would be most grateful to know. Thank you !

Good questions. I believe it is number 3. I am not positive, but that would be my guess.

Lee W: None of the choices you listed. 80% assistance means that the motor added 80% of your average watts for that ride. So, if you averaged 100 watts, the motor averaged another 80 watts assistance.

If you have a wahoo elemnt roam or bolt v2 you can connect it to levo using ant+. Besides battery levels and rpm it also tells you the riders power.
