I love it. I never understood how to use the bezel and was embarrassed to ask anyone. It’s like we’re just supposed to know. Now everything makes sense. Your orange Spinnaker is a big boy. Thank you. More videos like these please. 👏👏👍👍

Hi, Tom! I know what you mean. Yes, the Spinnaker Amalfi is a big boy at 46mm. I really like the OWC "James Bond Large Crown" and SWC's Diver a lot. Great bezel actions. Thanks, sir. 👌😜

I'm a recently self diagnosed early onset horophile that's also a "desk Diver" in a hospital setting. I use the Diver bezel to track time, but (example) setting the minute hand to the 50 mark, I'm tracking an ETA of 10 minutes when the minute hand matches up with the bezel's triangle. If I glance at my watch while waiting and that minute hand has gone past its marker, I've got some calls to make. Nice vid! Thanks for the info 👍

Hi Rich, I’ve got a pilot’s chrono with a countdown bezel. I find I use that way more than my dive bezels, for timing steaks and small tasks.

Hi, Michael! Congrats on your pilots chrono and yeah that would be a better option for timing things. Steaks sound great. Looking forward to the next bbq. 🥩 👌

Bezels are very useful cooking timers. I haven't been a diver in a long time, and probably would use a dive computer if I was to get back into it. Some GMT bezels are marked in hours, and can give you a 3rd time zone. Movable bezels are useful features. Good topic. Thanks.

Ahh thanks for the tutorial. As funny as it is I honestly never knew how to use my bezel. I just never did for whatever reason and only knew the term unidirectional. Crazy right? This is so basic and I needed to know this. Really good and useful idea for a video. Thanks my boy rich. 👍👍👍

I don't use my bezel, I very much wish the watch didn't have one. I find most numbered bezels hideous, but I do appreciate your video. My seiko 5 sport is my only watch with a rotating bezel, unfortunately they released the field series after I got it. I still love the watch.

Yeah you basically described a field watch, Charsquatch. Continue to enjoy your Seiko 5. 🤙

good informative video Rich. How do I use the bezel? in real life? Never. I can not even swim anyway, not to mention diving. however, whenever I go puddle around the pool, I just wear plastic Casio watches, or nothing at all. thanks for the Vid Rich and have a happy and safe holidays.

Hey, Alex! Haha, I don't go diving either and only play with my bezels when I feel like hearing the clicks...but I started to use it a few months ago by chance when I started running. Then I experimented with it in the kitchen. Thanks and we'll see you again before Christmas. 🎄👊

I use the bezel to track a second time zone.
@whatsonthewrist4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Tao! On your divers? Interesting use. 👌
@supertz4 жыл бұрын
whatsonthewrist yes. On my divers. For example, If Im on the west coast and need to track time in NYC, I rotate the bezel so that the marker at 9 o’clock. When I want to know the time in NYC, I read the time using the marker as 12 o’clock and the time in NYC would be relative to the marker. This obviously is a simple example but works well when I’m overseas.

Good morning, iDid! Thanks, brother. The Lexus is a long story, but short story it didn't work out. I went with a different model...from a different country all together. Let's just say the country of origin is known for Octoberfest among others. 🍻

I use them to time my steaks, or how long I'm in a boring meeting 😂 But seriously I always wondered why a diver wouldn't use a countdown bezel and have the more frequent Mark's on the opposite side as kind of an alert as to when you needed to be at a certain depth. Maybe its because dives are longer than an hour? Not being a diver myself, I just don't know...maybe there is a business plan in there my friend! Cheers
@whatsonthewrist4 жыл бұрын
Hey, meteorite16! Good point. I actually think there are different ways people use bezels and not just one way. I’m no diver so I really can’t share any real life diving experiences and how to improve things. Divers rely more on computers. Thanks, John. 👊💭
@andreadossi2 жыл бұрын
In diving the bezel is used to count bottom time, meaning you set it when you get in the water, as you are finishing your dive you Chek the elapsed time that is bottom time, at this pound you take the time from the watch and the depth from the computer to calculate if you need to do decompression stops with are usialy at 3 minutes ad different depths for Rec diving, at this point you reset you bezzel and you start the resurfacing the minute markers are now important to time your ascent and take the necessary stops, for example seiko on some of theyr straps prints this table to have it oh hand at all times

Why are bezel backwards sometimes? Example: the bezel number 50 will be at the 2 position on the dial
