I made the EXACT same mistakes , and I skimmed the directions, my wife came along and reasoned it out for me, then I re-read the instructions which kind of said the top of the bag goes into the drip tray ! .. thanks for being honest.

Thank you! I just picked this up at Walmart on clearance for $21 and it came with a vacuum container, great deal! I got mine to work with store brand zipper bags with the zipper part cut off and very long 8" rolls from amazon and ebay.

Have you tried it with like stew or chili something with liquid in it?

I haven't tried liquids. I have sealed some meat that had a little "juice." Gave me a little problem. Had to dry it out some with a paper towel twice before I got it to seal properly.
